Weekly Cleaning

Watched 'BLEEDING TIGER: Conflict Begins' (Netflix). Hokey gangland violence from Malaysia and the only notable aspect is that no guns were involved. Only the occasional machete, lead pipe, and dagger are employed and a plotline barely exists. The 'Making Of' reel that was shown with the final credits was the best thing about the entire project.  

Watched '10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU' (Netflix). A high school teen comedy that is not even the slightest bit believable, but some of the dialogue was funny. The film is almost top heavy with 'teen talent' who later went on to become major film stars; Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Gabrielle Union, Allison Janney. "70" Metascore and I'd leave it right there. A WASHINGTON POST critic gave this a "100", but I tend to agree with comments by USA TODAY: "While the attractive cast is willing, the translation into '90s teen culture is weak -- like a clueless adult's notion of cool."  I shut it down with 25 minutes left to go and I don't know if I'll be back {I did not}.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
