Watched 'THE HOUSEMAID' (Amazon Prime). A young 'goodhearted, yet naive' woman becomes the maid in a very rich Korean household. The mother is pregnant with twins and the husband is sexually attracted to the maid. She gets pregnant by the husband, they force her to abort, and in the penultimate scene, she hangs herself from a chandelier and self-immolates. The final scene shows the rich couple in a new house acting more 'entitled' than ever. A strange, sexy, and moving piece of film. Sixteen wins & 12 nominations. "68" Metascore and I would go to "86".

More 'ANGELA' (Netflix). I finished episode #4 and two fifty minute episodes remain. It's got to be one of the best 'Gaslighting' films that I've seen. Nice tension.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
