Watched 'THE GALAPAGOS AFFAIR' (Hoopla). In the early 1930's a philosophically minded German couple traveled to the island of Floreana in the Galapagos Islands. A few months later a Countess and a couple of male friends arrive and attempt to 'take over' the island. The adventures of the countess and her escorts garner worldwide attention, but murders and disappearances plague Paradise. The lesson is that Paradise is not a place, but a state of mind..."Little Town, Big Hell". The documentary is a clever curation of still photos and snippets of black and white video from the 30's with the voices of famous actors; including Cate Blanchett, Diane Krueger. "69" Metascore and I would go to "75".

Finished 'TURN OF THE TIDE: The Surreal Story Of Rabo De Peixe' (Netflix). No one knows for sure exactly how much cocaine was dumped off the coast of the tiny island in the Azores, but it could have been over a ton which is enough for over a million individual doses. And, it made a lot of people rich and also caused a ton of grief to many. {Netflix has a series based on this incident}  

Finished 'FAUDA' (Netflix). A fine end to the series and I left a note to begin season #2 in late December.

Began 'NO ONE SAW US LEAVE' (Netflix).  In 1964 a rich man living in Mexico City kidnaps his kids and relocates to Paris and then again to Italy. His wife sends men to get her children, but her husband's family is powerful and she's at her wit's end. It's a classy series and very engaging, easy on the eyes, and I'm all in.  I shut it down 25 minutes into episode #2.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
