Watched 'LUZZU' (Hoopla).  A poor contemporary Maltese fisherman slowly realizes that he's going to need a more lucrative profession to support his infant son and wife. The boy needs expensive baby formula and his wife's family picks up the tab and he feels emasculated. In the end he sells the boat and buys a used refrigerator truck to transport fresh caught fish to a wider assortment of buyers. A slow moving film with a shopworn premise. Economies change and the little guys feel the pain. Five wins & 13 nominations. "78" Metascore and that's about where I'd put it. A Luzzu is a traditional Maltese fishing boat, known for its bright colors and the symbolic pair of eyes painted on its bow. The movie is set and filmed on the island of Malta which is a small island south of Sicily. 

Began 'As You Stood By' (Netflix). I watched the first two episodes and it's a glossy Korean series about domestic violence. Maybe back to 'BABY BANDITO' (Netflix) tonight. {I went with the Korean series}

More 'AS YOU STOOD BY' (Netflix). I shut it down 11 minutes into episode #4. This is a powerful story, but the details are confusing. Is there a 'look a like' for the bad guy?  How does this guy figure into the plan?

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
