Watched 'HUMAN FACTORS' (Amazon Prime). A strange film about a family who visit their vacation home and experience a bizarre break-in. You see the 'event' from the perspective of the husband, wife, and their two kids. For almost the entire film you can't be sure if it actually happened. A most unconventional way of telling a story, and it's well worth a look. The family lives in Hamburg, Germany and the vacation home is in Belgium along the coast where the English Channel meets the North Sea. "60" Metascore and I would boost that to "84". From SLANT MAGAZINE: "Despite the mystery of the home invasion becoming increasingly tangential, Human Factors remains a compelling puzzle-box."  

Finished ' HEWELIUSZ' (Netflix).  The takeaway is that it was not one isolated incident that caused the disaster, but the coming together of numerous conflicting events that soon became overwhelming. Question: The captain made an emergency turn to avoid striking a German boat, but the recorded evidence of this action was destroyed. Why didn't the Polish court seek out the crew and captain of that German ship to verify whether they were there on the night in question?  From Wikipedia: "The series was announced as "the largest and most complex Polish television series production in recent years," featuring over 120 named characters and 3,000 extras, and requiring a crew of over 140 members."

Began 'DEATH BY LIGHTNING' (Netflix). I shut it down 15 minutes into episode #2. I can't believe that James Garfield won the Republican nomination for the president of the United States and he wasn't even a candidate and didn't want the job. That's a piece of history  {Wikipedia says 'yes, more or less'} that I'd never heard of.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
