Watched 'GATAO: LIKE FATHER LIKE SON' (Netflix). 'GATAO' is an Asian film franchise and there are many releases. This one is basically a chronicle of several Taiwanese turf wars that have existed on the island for generations. The film was a little heavy on moralizing, yet lots of  thugs beating and maiming each other with metal pipes, baseball bats, and the occasional butterfly knife . The film stresses the 'band of brothers' and 'fathers and sons' themes to the point of absurdity. Also, the absolute dedication of a Taiwanese 'soldier' to his boss is just not found in American gang culture. This goes far beyond 'snitches get stitches'. Filmed in Taiwan and focusing on 'Ding Zhuang' which is an area within the city of Taipei.  

More 'RUN AWAY' (Netflix). A slippery plot, yet it's beginning to come together by the end of episode #2. Filmed in Manchester, Liverpool and the north of England, however the book was set in NYC. I will continue at Planet Fitness later this afternoon.

1220pm: The PC is 'Off' and I'm preparing to visit Planet Fitness and will hit Schnucks for beer & soda after the workout.

***Fire @ Kenyon & Parkview- Friday morning I noticed fire trucks up the street, but I thought that they were here to 'drain' the fire hydrants. However, when I came back from Planet Fitness in the late afternoon and the street was still blocked, I realized that the house at Westview and Kenyon had caught fire. When I parked the car in the garage I spoke to one of the CWLP workers that were beginning to dig near the water main on the front lawn of the guy next door. He said that the pipes had been damaged when the firemen put out the house fire. He assured me that my services were not affected. This morning I noticed a post on Nextdoor that the elderly woman no longer lived in the house.

More 'RUN AWAY' (Netflix). I shut it down 12 minutes into episode #6. Charlotte Coben is Harlan Coben's eldest daughter and she is one of the many co-writers of 'RUN AWAY. Also, she is a screenwriter and producer who has worked extensively on television adaptations of her father's novels.

Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
