Watched 'ALL TO PLAY FOR' (Kanopy). A French working mother nearly loses her son to family services. The message of the film seems to be that you can lose your children to the authorities and it will be nearly impossible to win them back. The state acts in the best interest of the child and no parent could stand up to their exacting standards. I liked the way that the woman was portrayed as more Dionysian rather than Apollonian in her lifestyle. She ends up taking her child to Spain to begin a new life with all of her 'character flaws' intact.  Filmed in and around the port city of Brest, France which is on the far western edge of the country south of Guernsey.

Watched 'ECHOTONE' (Fandor). A somewhat bland take on the Austin, Texas music scene. The 'Beck 'Look Alike' seemed like a depressive character, the 'Soul Man' was lackluster, and the 'chick singer with the short hair' was an artistic visionary or completely unhinged from reality.

....The buzz from the VIIA hit just as potent as required. Three quarters of a gummy is the 'new' perfect dose. Half of an 'Extreme Chill' 'Birthday Cake' is also 75, but the VIIA seems to pack more of a punch. We'll see tomorrow morning and I'll try another 'Extreme Chill'.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
