Watched 'RELAY' (Netflix). Another very pleasant surprise. Set in contemporary lower Manhattan and the tension is palpable from start to finish.  The premise is the opposite of the usual function of a corporate whistleblower.  She has information that she wants to return because she has been harassed due to the explosive nature of the documents. But, the pretty girl with the info turns out to be a rat who worked for 'Big Pharma'.

Watched 'THE RIDE' (Netflix- short film; 1' 7"). A totally average 'Father/Son' film. Dad starts a gang war and goes on a road trip with his son to visit the boy's mom. Car chases, fistfights, and gun battles ensue. A longer running time might have made it more believable or maybe they took it as far as the lame premise merited. Filmed near San Pablo City, Philippines which is about 55 miles southeast of Manila.

Finished 'LAND OF SIN' (Netflix). The best angle: The clannishness of the rural people in southern Sweden was very much like rural and isolated people in the US. Not a great series, but strongly dramatic.  

Watched the first 12 minutes of 'RUN AWAY' (Netflix) The new series 'written' by Harlan Coben. I might begin with this one tomorrow morning.

Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
