Watched 'JULIE KEEPS QUIET' (Kanopy) {The official submission of Belgium for the 'Best International Feature Film' 2025}. Another strange and vague film. A young girl is the star of her tennis club and when another girl on the team commits suicide the coach comes under scrutiny. Julie knows more than she's letting on. The fact that major details of the plot are never shown allows you to really feel her isolation. If something of a sexual nature did occur, was it all his fault? Is that why she's silent? "76" Metascore and I would go to "83". 

Watched 'MANODROME' (Netflix). A kind of reexamination and update to the character of Travis Bickel. The protagonist is an urban Uber driver with a pregnant wife who becomes prey to a group of men who believe that women are the cause of all things bad. Although his biggest horror is that he's a violently closeted gay man and his first homosexual encounter ends in murder. It's a dark film and a little heavy on the violence, but it's a new twist on the 'cult vibe'..."Men, especially White Men, have been persecuted for far too long!"; with Jesse Eisenberg, Adrien Brody. "48" Metascore and I would boost that to "78". From The New York Times: "Crude and sensationalizing, Manodrome is like an amalgam of all the headlines you’ve read about the kinds of men who succumb to warped ideologies." Filmed in and around Syracuse, New York.

More 'IN THE MUD' (Netflix). I shut it down 19 minutes into episode #3. This is a longish series with eight episodes of almost an hour a piece.  

1130am: I noticed that the guy next door had dragged a couple of pine branches that had fallen on the fence. I guess he's going to take care of it and I hope he's not seething with resentment.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer.
