Watched 'THE IRON CLAW' (Netflix). While watching the film I was only 51% convinced that it was a fictionalized account of a real family because I know nothing of professional wrestling during the 70's and 80's. Not only was it a true story, but the actors looked very similar to the real family (photos during the final credits). Set in the world of Texas professional wrestling it's the tale of the four Von Erich brothers who have a father who expects great things. The tragedy was Shakespearean, two suicides and death during a simple procedure, so it's no wonder that they felt that the family was cursed; with Zac Efron, Holt McCallany (MINDHUNTER). "73" Metascore and I would go to "86"... "Mom, we gotta talk"..."That's what your brothers are for".

Watched 'BONE LAKE' (Netflix). This seemed like I'd seen it before or maybe the premise of a double booking of a house for the weekend made it seem familiar. The two couples happily agree to share the house for the weekend, yet mayhem is afoot. The only thing that I remembered was that the bad guy stole the other guy's engagement ring. He was going to ask his girlfriend to marry him, and the other guy proposed to his girlfriend using the purloined ring. That's the only detail that stuck and the rest seems like I'd seen it or maybe even read it"...a nightmarish maze of sex, lies, and manipulation, bringing terrifying secrets to light..." "63" Metascore and I would up that to "74".

***Wow. I checked 'THE CHEESE' and immediately learned that I had seen 'BONE LAKE' before. On Tu 1/20/26 I watched it at Esporta. It's only been just over a month and I'm really surprised that the film made such a tiny impression. Maybe the small screen was a factor or maybe the film really was a forgettable dud.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am.
