We 3/11/26- Sick

 We 3/11/26- Sick

Up 830am: Cloudy & breezy with rain/drizzle in the morning and temps only to upper 40's.  Last night I slept on the living room chair from 3am to 6am. I was experiencing some shortness of breath when I was laying flat and the chair put me in a more upright position. I think I feel better, but things are nowhere near back to normal. And, there seems to be less of an aversion to food. We will see...

The front lawn has a new covering of gumballs due to last night's severe weather and there are still many more on the tree.

Watched 'TRAIN DREAMS' (Netflix). A feast for the eyes that is about a logger who lived at the turn of the century in Montana. He was an orphan who didn't know his parents, learned the logging trade, married and had a child, but he lost them to a forest fire. Although he suffered a terrible loss, at the end of his life he 'found a connection to all'. This was the kind of film that really resonates. The novella was written by Denis Johnson (JESUS' SON); with Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Clifton Collins Jr., William H. Macy.

THE GUARDIAN: "... a gorgeous and poignant film of quiet, bruised life in a fragile place, anchored by a magnificently sensitive and restrained performance from the still-underrated Edgerton." "88" Metascore and I would go to "92".

It's rainy, blustery, & bleak and matches my mood. Just after noon a truck from Lakeside stopped and picked up the five bags that I filled yesterday. They dropped part of a bag in the middle of the street and just left. I went out and shoveled the debris into the blue barrel for pickup later today.

Finished the last episode of 'SOUTHLAND' (Netflix). I didn't realize that there was another season, so I just kept watching. There are actually five seasons and I began season #2. I think I'll just read for a couple of hours and I'm looking forward to a soak in the tub after 5pm. It's the only time I feel halfway alright. So far today I've eaten a piece of buttered toast, an apple, and one date. I still don't have much of an appetite, but there's no aversion to food.

115pm: PC is 'Off' and checking the stacks for something light to read (more early 20th century SciFi by Murray Leinster).  At 2pm I ate 1/3 of a can of lentil soup that I began last night. A spark of an appetite has returned, but I'm still weak & depressed. 315pm I ate the rest of the can of lentils and a handful of pretzels. It seems like I'm making strides in the right direction. I'm going to see if I can put in some time on the treadmill.

4pm: 45 minutes at 3.5 pace; 2.61 miles and listened to David McGowan conspiracy theory about the 60's & Laurel Canyon,  California. A secret government operation behind the Peace & Love generation?

540pm: In the tub with MURRAY LEINSTER and listening to BEATLES- 'Rubber Soul'/ 'Revolver'; PETE TOWNSHEND- 'Who Came First'.

Finished BERT KREISCHER on 'HONEY DEW'.

More 'SOUTHLAND' (Netflix). I shut it down 26 minutes into episode #3.
