Up 6am; the temperature is two below zero and it's only to get into the mid teens all day; schools are closed/ death and destruction.

Watching THE BIG SICK. This is a film made by Amazon and winner of several awards (7am). Another excellent romantic comedy; tremendous cast.
Another DEADWOOD. 
11am reading GLITZ; last day on this book, then it's on to the book club selection for Janurary.

1245pm to FitClub. 45" Octane (WORKBOOK- Bob Mould). 45" Bike. 45" Walk. 3.7/0. 45" Cross. Legs/ Chest/ Biceps. 30" Old Style Cross. Whirlpool.

Drove to Best Buy and bought a new DVD Player. This one should be able to play Netflix as well as Amazon Prime. Can't wait, but can't stand the hassle of doing it tonight. Tomorrow....
Tonight will begin with THE FREE SPEECH APOCALYPSE (Amazon Prime). I'll start with this, but the premise looks dicey. So awful that I wrote a review to IMDB-

"Two and Two is Five; Fair and Balanced

 The whole film is just sophistry ("the use of fallacious arguments, especially with the intention of deceiving") masquerading as insight. 

 To put Pastor Doug in front of a hostile crowd at the beginning of the film is a shrewd and canny move to make him appear as a sympathetic character, but .....

Put his arguments in a different context-

 "I live in a Christian community and we don't feel that it's proper to have a Jewish place of worship in our town. We pay taxes, and we're in the majority, so why is the government forcing me to do something that's against my morality". 

 Or this-

 "I'm a small business owner and my patrons don't want to sit next to Negroes. We pay taxes, and we're in the majority, so why is the government forcing me to do something that's against my morality". 

 To say that Christians are the arbitrators of some kind of 'celestial and special position in the ways of the lord' is ludicrous. Christians burned witches during the middle ages, stood silent in the genocidal treatment of native Americans, stood silent on Jim Crow racism, and I'll be willing to bet the farm that it was a Christian prayer that blessed the men who dropped the Big Ones on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The over zealous kids in the beginning were rude, but their behavior is far less reprehensible than the religious bigotry demonstrated by Pastor Doug and his ilk. "

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character. We 4/23/25- Gummy 645am {I took 1/4 of a 200 mg of 'DIET SMOKE' gummy: 50 mg total}. 650am (1-LB: Cookie Bread). 910am (1/2-LB: Cookie Bread).  1220pm (1-LB: Panama Punch). 535pm (1-LB: Permanent Marker). 815pm (1-LB: Permanent Marker).  Up 545am: A mix of suny & clouds with temps to about 80. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}. We exchanged books & Joe recommended an 'oiler' that fits under the belt of a treadmill. Melissa is now '2nd in command' at the Illinois Parole Board...
