Th 11/22/18- THANKSGIVING at 2pm
Up 730am; bright and sunny- temps to about 50.
Watched Netflix disc, 'L'AMOUR'; An old Parisian couple cope with her declining health. Brilliant, yet very depressing; with Isabelle Huppert.
Began, 'THE CREEPY LINE' (Amazon Prime) An eye-opening documentary that makes clear the unbelievable influence of Internet platforms like Google and Facebook.
Listened to Terry Gross's interview with Rami Malek.
1130am- played with the leaves on the front lawn, and filled five bags. The gutter is clear and the bulk of the front lawn looks good; nothing done to the side of the lawn next to the driveway.
In the house and ironing a shirt and on the road to The Brandenburgs by 130pm. Dropped the disc at the Monroe PO box.
Just Joe, Janny, and I. Had I not shown up, this would have been the first Thanksgiving since the boys were born that they spent it alone. We had a nice meal and I left before five pm. The carpet in the family room really does look nice, and I got home and read more Anne Tyler on the couch while listening to a live Dead tape from Chris
Sipping beer and will finish the documentary on Amazon Prime called, 'THE CREEPY LINE'. A lot of interesting material until I noticed a severe right-wing bias. "Google and Facebook conspired to elect Hilary, but they failed". The entire film demonstrated that the power of these two corporations had unstoppable power over the electorate, but not enough to stop Trump?- a candidate that no media outlet believed had a chance until the very end...Bullshit. Why was there no mention of Russian involvement? If these platforms can introduce a bias and shift perceptions, can a foreign government Internet platform accomplish the same? However, the 'numbering system of ratings' makes sense, and clearly we think that we all want 'unbiased searches' but there is no such thing.
Then, another 'GET SHORTY'.
