Up 6am; low single digits with wind chills of fifteen and twenty below zero.

Watched Netflix disc, 'MEMOIR OF WAR'   Based on the experience of an actual French writer whose husband was arrested by the Germans in Occupied France near the end of the war. She tries to find out where he is by contacting a French cop working for the Germans. Weeks after war's end, she learns that he is alive and at the Dachau concentration camp. Members of her resistance group are bringing him back to Paris, but he is so sick that he only has days to live. He recovers, but she decides that she is not in love with him, and takes up with her lover who was also a member of the group. 'The Lover' and 'The Divorce' are only covered in the last minute of the film and this causes more than a little confusion.

The, 'WONDERLAND' (Amazon Prime) A collaboration between ten Swiss film directors that examine the Swiss national character in an entirely different light. Switzerland is usually portrayed as the beacon of fairness and rectitude among the nations of the world, but in this film a violent weather phenomenon (a supernatural hurricane-like cloud forms over the country) forces the citizens to face up to the country's questionable ethical past. As personal fear escalates, Swiss citizens try to flee over the border, but they are denied access to the European Union. Apparently during the second World War Jews were barred from entering Switzerland at this very bridge. Several story lines are depicted; two sisters separated from their mother, a rowdy group of football hooligans, a neo-Nazi neighborhood watch group, a female police officer who is haunted by the ghost of a foreigner. Not 100% successful, but definitely worth a look.

1pm- Before shutdown I made some posts on Jim Leach's Facebook page; 'Elderly Ken Doll/ RICO'). PC is 'Off' and I'm going to finish the rest of Christopher Boone's tale on Kindle and then do the grocery shopping at Fairhills and then mail the disc and hit Planet Fitness.

130pm at Fairhills; $78/ bought more than usual, and on the machines at Planet Fitness by 220pm.
45" Walk (The Spanish bank heist series). 45" Recumbent Bike (finished 'THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG AT NIGHT TIME). 45" Cross (HANNIBAL). 45" Bike (The Byrds/ 'Z- THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING'). 30" Cross (Another 'Z').
Home to unpack the food and into the tub to reunite with the cops in Precinct 13, Long Island/ GANG OF FOUR compilation).
A documentary about the making of the Dead's ANTHEM OF THE SUN and AMERICAN BEAUTY; 60". The film is a deft explanation of how the Dead went from the extreme explorations of  'Anthem' and 'Live Dead'  to the almost 'Blue Grass' accessibility of 'American Beauty'. The answer is that they owed thousands to the record company for 'experimental studio time' (where they learned their craft), and also because of the New Orleans bust. And, most importantly, they had very musical voices within the band, and why not give 'The Crosby, Neils, and Young' approach a shot? I think that Garcia could have easily found a home within that lineup if things had been different.

Then the second episode of season 2 of 'MR. ROBOT'. I've completely lost the thread.....
