Sa 2/23/10- Knox Knolls Auto Repair
Up 7am and at the repair shop by 735am. The guy immediately thought that the brake fluid was low. He asked if the brake light had come on. For months I thought that there was a glitch in the electrical system, but I guess it was working fine.
There was not enough strength in the brakes to stop me from sliding down the slope of the driveway.
He offered to drive me home, but I said I'd walk.
Overcast, rain, but temps might crack 50.
820am- Knox Knolls called and I had a leak in the rear brake lining and the front brake pads need replacing. The whole deal will be six hundred plus, and I can pick it up early this afternoon. Do It!
'THE BAD LIEUTENANT' (Xfinity) Harvey Keitel is the very, very bad lieutenant. The rape of a young nun seems to slow his descent into drugs, alcohol, and depravity, but he's just far too gone. One of the best movies of the nineties, and I still can't believe that a black man would have a name like, 'Darryl Strawberry'. It sounds like a character from a Beach Boys song.
The mechanic called and said that my rear gas line? was badly rusted and needed to be replaced. Now we're up to $925. On the brightside, I have not spent any money on car maintenance in over a decade, or maybe longer. I wonder about the transmission?
Watched, 'A SINGLE MAN' Colin Firth/ Julianne Moore A college English professor morns the death of his boyfriend and plans his own suicide.
It's now 1230pm, and Knox Knolls hasn't called, but the plan is to pick up the car before they close at 2pm, and on to FitClub West.
130pm I called Knox and they were almost done and they sent a guy to pick me up in my Accord. He drove by the house, and then back up the hill; "UPS and FEDEX drivers do it all the time".
Price was what he said on the phone and I saw that they inflated the tires and he also checked all the fluids. My transmission is OK.
On the machines at FitClub West about 215pm. 45" Octane (the gym teacher guy talked to me the whole time and some other 'regular' old guy told me that he knew (not sure) Steve Rambach, but he thought that he was a Trump fanatic. Hard to believe, but not totally out of the question.
45" Octane. 45" Walk (TV all workout). 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 30" Old Style Cross.
Home to read in the living room for about 40" and then in the tub with more, 'DO NOT BECOME ALARMED' and SHAKEDOWN STREET' by the Dead.
'BEHIND THE CURVE' (Netflix) Flat Earthers get their say. They actually believe that the cosmos is a man-made diorama. Science shows them the error of their position, they say that 'scientists have been brainwashed and compromised'. Very similar to right wing political pundits when they blame the 'Deep State'.
