We 2/20/19

Up 630am; just a little rain, and no wintry mix- overcast and temps just above freezing to upper 30's.

Wrote up 'THE SPRINGFIELD RACE RIOT OF 1908' for the blog.

Watched Netflix disc, 'FALLING FROM GRACE' I'm so glad I requested this forgotten gem. John Mellencamp as a country rock star who tires to start life anew in his small hometown in rural Indiana. "You can go home again, but it's probably not going to be like you expected"; screenplay written by Larry McMurtry and directed by Mellencamp. Also features, Mellencamp in the starring role, Claude Akins, Mariel Hemingway, and Kay Lenz who was David Cassidy's first wife.

Unhappy to see that this film was offered on Amazon Prime. Before I order a disc from Netflix I should check with Amazon Prime.

Then, 'CONTAINMENT' (Amazon Prime) Residents awake one morning to find all services to their apartments have been turned off and the exit doors to the units have been locked and sealed from the outside. Several neighbors break through their apartment walls in the hope that there is safety in numbers- but what is the nature of the containment? A fairly decent thriller and shot at the Oslo Towers, an apartment tower complex in Southampton, England.

230pm- to the Wabash PO to mail the disc and on to Planet Fitness.

45" Walk (THE MONEY HEIST). 45" Recumbent Bike (began the February selection for the book club). 45" Cross (Amazon Music). 30" Walk (TV News). 30" Cross (UNBREAKABLE).

Home to soak and read more of the Feb. selection and listened to a compilation from Huh! Magazine from the 90's.

'ROLLIN- THE FALL OF THE AUTO INDUSTRY AND THE RISE OF THE DRUG ECONOMY IN DETROIT' (Amazon Prime).

From the wikipedia entry on Young Boys Inc.

"Young Boys Incorporated, also known as Y.B.I., was a major drug organization in Detroit, Michigan, who were among the first African American drug cartels to operate on inner city street corners. The Young Boys were innovative, opening franchises in other cities, promoting brand names, and unleashing extreme brutality to frighten away rivals.

Y.B.I. emerged at the end of the 1970s. Their modus operandi was using minors to be couriers of heroin. If police captured them, they were ineligible to receive criminal penalties for adults because their juvenile status required the law to only consider juvenile punishments was strictly by coincidence. Meanwhile, the leaders, adults aged in their late teens and very early 20s, remained largely insulated from law enforcement action for many years."
