Up 645am; rain last night, but ended at 530am. More warm temps, maybe to 70- partly cloudy.
Mitch and partner arrived just after 6am, and working on the backyard. I was asleep and very surprised to see them working so early. They used my hedge trimmer and they will put the bags of yard waste in on the street. The city is due to pick them up next week...I hope. The chart about times of the pickups is very hard to understand.
Will write up 'THE SNOWMAN' for the blog.
Watched Netflix disc, 'AT ETERNITY'S GATE' A moving and turbulent portrait of nature, art, and the artist, Vincent Van Gogh. Willem Dafoe deserves every bit of the acclaim. However, two disturbing 'non-truths' are promoted in the film. First, it is not generally believed that Van Gogh was shot by a young villager as was depicted, and second, the notebook that was 'discovered' over a century later does not contain the authentic sketches of Vincent Van Gogh. These two discrepancies do not detract from the positive impact of the movie, but why promote a false narrative? We get enough fake news these days.
I paid Mitch with a $300 check from the Ameriprise account around 730am. He's a nice guy, and I'd do business with him in the future.
Then I watched the last half of 'THE LIBERTINES: THERE ARE NO INNOCENT BYSTANDERS'. The film is about the reunion concerts after the band is shattered by drug abuse, internecine warfare, and general resentments.
1245pm: will read 'LAYER CAKE' and later to the Wabash PO to mail the disc and Planet Fitness.
2pm on the machines. 45" Walk (Disappearance of Madeline McCann- Netflix). 45" Recumbent Bike (read 'LAYER CAKE'/ Giant Sand- Amazon Music). 45" Cross (Madeline McCann). 30" Walk (McCann/ SELLING SUNSET). 30" Cross (CROSS TALK- finished Patton Oswald and began Ray Romano).
Shoveled some of the dirt and leaves from the branch pile on to the bags that Mitch put on the street.
In the tub with more English Mobsters and Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
'ALL ABOUT NINA' (Netflix) An abrasive, tormented female comic finds herself wooed by a handsome, together black man. Not bad.
