Th 8/8/19
Up 730am; before coffee I watered the front flower bed. It's getting pretty dry and no rain in sight for the next several days. Sunny and temps to about 90.
Wrote up 'THE HIT'- David Baldacci for the blog.
Watched 'A VIGILANTE' (Amazon Prime) Olivia Wilde plays a victim of domestic abuse who becomes an 'avenging angel'. A slow and measured pace and the film intentionally differs from the Revenge Genre films of Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood in that this film seeks to examine the after-effects or fallout of violence more than the acts themselves. The character of Sadie is not really a heroine because she's just too damaged or even unhinged although her actions are righteous and worthy; A real surprise of a film!
Then, 'NATURAL SELECTION' (Amazon Prime) Robbie Pickering is a first time director, but he scores big! A devout Christian housewife learns her husband has been visiting a sperm bank for a couple of decades instead of fulfilling her needs. He has a stroke (while making a donation to the clinic) and she learns that he has a son. She leaves Texas and travels to Florida to meet the guy who turns out to be a junkie ex-con with a scruffy, off-beat kind of charm. A bit hard to believe, but the ensemble acting is superb.
130pm: PC is "Off" and I'll read for a while and then bike to the 'Y'.
345pm: on the machines at the 'Y'. 45" Walk (Reality TV all workout). 45" Recumbent Bike. 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 30" Cross. Jim accosted me on the way out, but his family was waiting inside so the encounter was brief.
Home to soak and listen to JUDY COLLINS/ THE DOORS and read 'THE STUDIO'.
Picking back up on and finishing the series, 'DEAD TO ME' (Netflix) In the last episode ....Linda Cardellini kills her husband. The story hinged on the fact that Cardellini and her husband had killed Christina Applegate's husband in a hit and run incident...maybe a new series about this change in events?
