Sa 1/18/2020- Power Outage
***A post in Nextdoor from a neighbor on Greenview says that they heard two explosions and that usually means a transformer went out.
The power was out for several hours last night. I noticed it was off about 3am. There was an emergency vehicle up the street and I could see the flashing lights. The truck left after about an hour, the power was still off, and then the power came back about dawn.
When I got up at 7am everything came on with no problem, however the sump pump was beeping. I hit a button on the front of the box and it apparently reset. Temps began in the lower 40's this morning and very windy with temps plunging to the single digits tonight. Sunday and Monday's high temps will only be in the mid teens.
******Reset all the clocks
Then watched Netflix disc, 'HOMEBOY'. A scruffy, 'warts and all' character study of low-lifes and losers that just happens to have a boxing theme. Christopher Walken plays a small time grifter and Mickey Rourke plays an over-the-hill boxer and they smirk and grimace all over the mean streets of Asbury Park, New Jersey. Mickey Rourke wrote the script and Eric Clapton contributed the music. Well worth a look.
Then, 'WHERE THE MONEY IS' (Netflix). A direct to video film about a prison inmate who is faking a stroke and due to a shortage of beds in the prison hospital he winds up in a nursing home. A nurse who works there sees through his scam, and she and her husband carry out a armored car heist with him. Since 1990 Linda Fiorentino has dropped out of the movie business, yet when she and Newman shared the screen there was real chemistry, but the premise of this film was too far-fetched and almost silly; with Paul Newman, Linda Fiorentino, and Dermot Mulroney.
2pm: To the Wabash PO to drop off the disc and a workout at Planet Fitness. The wind has picked up considerably and nearly all of the rain water has dried. Temps will plunge to single digits tonight, but icing should not be a factor.
*****I wore the 'Arctic Parka' for the first time this season.
45" Walk (First episode of 'DON'T FUCK WITH THE CATS'. A very engaging True Crime documentary about an online Internet group that chased down Canadian killer, Luka Rocco Magnotta (Netflix). 45" Cross (DON'T FUCK...). 45" Recumbent Bike (Read SEVEN DAYS OF US and listened to AEROSMITH). 30" Walk (DON'T FUCK...). 30" Cross (SAM JONES 'OFF CAMERA'- Liz Phair).
Home to soak with more English Adventures and listened to NATHANIEL RATELIFF AND THE NIGHT SWEATS and THE GOURDS.
Watched a 30" interview with Bob Mould (YouTube). He was promoting 'SUNSHINE ROCK', but he covered a large chunk of his past.
Then, some of Fred Armisen on JONESY'S JUKEBOX (YouTube).
Then a True Crime- YouTube about a car arson murder in California in 2008. Although there's a million of these docs on the Internet, most of them are instantly forgettable, and this one was no exception.
