Up 740am: Partly cloudy to low 50's.
Watched Netflix disc, 'ATTENBERG'. The title refers to, Sir David Attenborough, an English broadcaster and natural historian. Two young and naive Greek women imagine themselves from the perspective of an animal. Both occasionally 'play/dance/walk' as if they were animals of a species other than human. One's father is terminally ill and the other seems preoccupied with sex. Puzzling, Strange and deadpan- similar to DOGTOOTH and LOBSTER.
Then watched, 'SEEKING JUSTICE' (Hoopla). This was one of the two films that I 'rented' from Hoopla just after midnight this morning. A man's wife is beaten and raped and the police have no leads. The husband encounters a stranger who claims that he can 'take care of the problem' and he would only have to do a 'few things' for the organization in the future. An interesting premise, a clandestine group seeking justice but not involved with the justice system, but the movie is not as good as the idea; with Nicolas Cage, Guy Pearce, and January Jones.
Then an episode of, 'COURT JUSTICE- SYDNEY' (Netflix)- Simple court cases in the Australian court system.
Then, the last 35" of 'DAVE CHAPPELLE THE KENNEDY CENTER MARK TWAIN PRIZE FOR AMERICAN HUMOR.
Finally a ten minute YouTube video of how a family dealt with both father and daughter sick with COVID-19.
4pm: Walk to the Wabash PO to return the Netflix disc.
Up Westview, Parkview, Oakmont across Old Jacks, Pebble Beach east to Chatham....to the mailbox in front of the PO...Back the same way. NEARLY EXACTLY 2 HOURS.
Home to check out the lyrics to 'GETHSEMANE'- Richard Thompson on, 'THE OLD KIT BAG'. Then in the tub with RICHARD THOMPSON,'THE OLD KIT BAG' and '1000 YEARS OF POPULAR MUSIC'.
Watched, 'KILLING THEM SOFTLY' (Netflix); with Brad Pitt, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Ray Liotta, and Sam Shepard...Star Power!..The title refers to the enforcer's (Brad Pitt's character) attitude toward his work. He doesn't like it to be up front and personal. When he does the killings he wants to be far away (emotionally as well as physically distant), and this is why he calls it 'killing them softly'.
.
***I liked the film so much that I ordered the novel from Amazon: $6.18.
From the book's page at Amazon- 'COGAN'S TRADE'- George V. Higgins:
"Jackie Cogan is an enforcer for the New England mob. When a high-stakes card game is heisted by unknown hoodlums, Cogan is called in to “handle” the problem. Moving expertly and ruthlessly among a variety of criminal hacks, hangers-on, and bigger-time crooks—a classic cast of misfits animated by Higgins’s hilarious, cracklingly authentic dialogue—Cogan gets to the root of the problem and, with five consecutive shots from a Smith & Wesson thirty-eight Police Special, restores order to his corner of the Boston underworld."
Finished the last 40" of, 'MARC MARON- END TIMES FUN (Netflix). Jesus in a sexual relationship with Mike Pence.
