Su 5/17/2020- WATER DOWNSTAIRS!
Up at 5 am due to the heavy storms. Checked downstairs, but no water. Awoke at 810 am and leaking in all the usual areas. The pump has done nothing! Sucked up about a half a barrel and more to come. Heavy rain predicted all day today- high 60's.
Watched, 'THE NICE GUYS' (Xfinity). Two PI's search for 'Amelia' and a missing film in 1977 Los Angeles. The film is an homage to the 'Cop/Detective Buddy Film Genre', and it's not bad, yet forgettable; with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.
Watched the last hour and ten minutes of,'JOKER'. The film offers the back story for arguably the most infamous cinematic and comic book villain of all time. A neurological disorder coupled with bipolar and schizophrenia make for a very unhappy and dangerous man. As transgressive and dark as the film gets, the Joker is still a somewhat sympathetic character; with Joaquin Phoenix.
***Used the shop vac downstairs for the second time today. More water than the last incident and I noticed on Nextdoor that many basements are in much worse shape than mine. Somebody posted a photo of a kid swimming in the middle of the street in Colony West.
Watched the first two episodes of Season 10, 'CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM' (HBO-Xfinity).
It's 445 pm and it seems to be clearing up. Will do the Weekly Cleaning (upstairs only) and take another swipe with the shop vac, and do the walk.
***While doing the cleaning I noticed water leaking from the ceiling in the bedroom (only a few drops, but it ain't gonna get better on down the line. The stain that I had thought was caused by the guys that installed the new mattress was another leak. What to do?
545 pm: On the Walk: Down Westview and up Greenview to Parkview and into the park. Straight south on Wiggins to Outer Park and back north on Douglas. To South Grand and east to Walnut. North side of the panhandle to the middle of the park, and then south to the south side of the park and up Parkview and down to 940; TWO HOURS NEARLY ON THE DOT. Listened to TOM VERLAINE and PRODIGY.
Then another swipe at the downstairs area. Water standing in the 'Stones Corner' and behind the PC are the problem areas. And, the pump made no determinable difference- door is still fucked.
In the tub and finished 'THE HOT KID'- Elmore Leonard and listened to THE CLIMAX BLUES BAND and THE ATLANTA RHYTHM SECTION.
1030 PM before I was watching anything on the living room PC. Just beer tonight...
***The Xfinity Free Weekend ended before midnight...
Watched 'TRIAL BY MEDIA'- Subway Vigilante (Netflix). Bernard Goetz shoots and kills four black young men when they try to intimate him on the subway in NYC 1984.. Was he right or was he wrong?
Then more of , 'NO DIRECTION HOME- BOB DYLAN' (Netflix)... and more beer...
