Up 7am: Overcast and humid with showers beginning by mid morning and rain possible all day- low 80's.

Wrote up, 'STRAIGHT WHISKY' for the blog.

Watched Netflix disc, 'PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE'. Beautifully shot on the coast of Brittany and the film attempts to answer the question of how do you shoot Love and succeeds brilliantly. I watched the Interviews and Bonus Features and will watch more from this director.

Then watched, 'DUCH- MASTER OF THE FORGES OF HELL' (Kanopy). An astounding monologue from one of the chief torturers of the Khmer Rouge regime of Cambodia.

"Why all the documentation and photographs? Such unspeakable horror, yet they leave a detailed record of their crimes? The Nazis did the same thing. This doesn't have anything to do with Communism, Capitalism, Socialism, or any political system, but it's much more of a manifestation of Pure Evil. Duch thinks only in terms of 'Us' and 'Them', and this mindset allows him to do or to order others to do anything without guilt because they are only defeating their common enemy."

230pm: It's still overcast, but according to the weather maps the storms have left the area. Will get in an early walk to mail the disc at the Wabash PO. 

3pm. Parkview, Oakmont, Golf. Iles east and south at Chatham. After the mailbox I walked into Planet Fitness. Little changed for pandemic?  Back nearly the same way. 2 HRS. 20 MINS. Mp3. DEL FUEGOS, STONES - Some Girls, THE SMITHS--Hatful of Hollow. 

Downstairs listening to AIR and began OZONE- Paul Theroux.
In tub reading and listening to AL KOOPER, ALANIS MORISSETTE, THE SMITHS.

Watched 'THE RAINBOW' (Amazon Prime). A documentary about the legendary 'Rainbow Bar and Grill' on Sunset Strip. A totally exceptional companion piece to 'STRAIGHT WHISKY'!

Then watched, Season 1, Episode 1 of, 'DR. G: MEDICAL EXAMINER (Amazon Prime). Florida medical examiner, Dr. Jan Garavaglia, presents her most puzzling cases and how she solved the causes of death.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character.  Th 10/2/25 8am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 10am (1-B: Citrus Mac). 1220pm (2-LB: Citrus Mac). 535pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 810pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 715am: {took a dump at 4am}. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
