Sa 6/6/20

Up 615 am: Sunny, humid, temps to about 90.

Watched, 'STRAY DOGS' (Kanopy). Taipei is the capital of Taiwan which is an island country off the east coast of China. The film concerns two children and their parents as they deal with homelessness in Taipei.

My post at Kanopy:

"Be forewarned...The film is glacially paced and purposely designed to force the viewer to allow the images to resonate by a process of accretion. The director has crafted the film to communicate something that is not directly expressed by allowing the gradual addition of visual layers of meaning and emotion to slowly seep into the viewers consciousness. Needless to say that this is not an easy goal and only a few will stick with it to the end, but I found it well worth the effort."

Then watched, 'FREEWAY 2: CONFESSIONS OF A TRICKBABY' (Amazon Prime). I didn't realize it while I was watching it, but it seems to be a reworking of the fable, 'Little Red Riding Hood'. White Girl and Cyclona escape jail and flee to Mexico where they run into Sister Gomez. Sister is actually a man and he has been running a child pornography ring for years and has a taste for children's flesh; with Natasha Lyonne (credited as an associate producer), Maria Celedonio, and Vincent Gallo (BUFFALO 66) as Sister Gomez.

***When I awoke this morning I noticed a lot of signage at the two little girls' house across the street- "HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLOW". Right at 11 am a long line of cars came down the street (more than 20). Each car stopped at the house and Willow was out front to greet and her mom was passing out snacks... A birthday party for a seven year old during the pandemic.
1 pm: Mowed the lawn and will walk to return the Netflix disc later. 215 pm finished lawn including some backyard raking.
READ in the living room chair until 345 pm.
4 pm. On the streets.  Lawrence to Edward to the PO on Monroe. South on 6th to South Grand and west to MacArthur thru the park and up the hill. Just about TWO HOURS ON THE NOSE.  SPOOKY TOOTH    JON SPENCER BLUES BAND.      YO LA TENGO
Then in the tub with, ATOMIC ROOSTER, GARY WRIGHT, and AUDIOSLAVE
Watched, 'ELLIOTT SMITH HEAVEN ADORES  YOU' (Amazon Prime). An intelligent biography of a 'tortured artist'. His suicide is divulged within the first few minutes and the chronology of his life is expertly developed. However, the film never reveals the reason behind his obviously profound depression. Maybe nobody knew.
