Up 7am: Sunny and much cooler with temps only up to 80. A chance of showers this afternoon.
Watched, '99 HOMES' (Hoopla- I picked this because it is by the same director as 'GOODBYE, SOLO'). The film is the perfect antidote to the belief that the housing crisis was caused when the government forced banks to loan money to low income people; with Michael Shannon, Andrew Garfield, and Laura Dern. Directed by Ramin Bahrani.
Another early walk to avoid the storms.
1045am. Parkview to Wash Pk. South on Wiggins. Outer Park east to Holmes, then north, Walnut and west thru park on south side. Parkview down to 940. Mp3 Peter Green's FLEETWOOD MAC, P FUNK, GINGER BAKER TRIO.
Reading in the living room and finished 'WHEN GOD WAS A RABBIT'. Watered the flowers in front (as the black clouds rolled in).
5pm: Smoked a half bowl and watched 'THE VIRGIN SUICIDES'. (Amazon Prime). A very difficult subject yet made for compelling viewing. The film could be viewed as a romantic look at teenage femininity with a subplot of suicide. The parents felt that young girls should be sheltered from life and the girls learned to abstain from life completely. A weird story-line that presents young women as 'delicate, hot house flowers' that require protection from life, yet demonstrates a spot-on representation of the way culture, fashion, and interior design were in the mid 1970's.
I watched, 'Hunting For A Rare Congolese Weed Strain With “The Kings of Cannabis”' a fifteen minute YouTube documentary about two pot growers who go to the Congo to find the perfect 'landrace'. Landrace is a pure cannabis strain cultivated in its natural environment which has never been crossbred with another variety.
Checked YouTube for some possible choices for tonight and in the tub with a new book, 'STRAIGHT WHISKY'- A LIVING HISTORY OF SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK'N'ROLL ON THE SUNSET STRIP'. Listened to CANNONBALL ADDERLEY. EDDIE HINTON, RED MEAT.
Watched, 'METH STORM 2017' (YouTube). A profile of a family of meth addicts in rural Arkansas where several generations have been involved in the drug business. Nobody cooks methamphetamine these days because the Mexican cartels are shipping in tons of high-grade meth and all the local people have to do is store, market, and sell it.
