Su 8/9/20
Up 705am: Partly sunny and humid- mid 80's.
***When I went to throw the trash in the garage I noticed my keys were not in the drawer. They were in the drawer below. This could have gotten ugly!
***Ordered a 1/4oz of Pheno 51 Shake from the pot shop: $65 (over $80 with tax). The appointment is from 830-9am. and I left for the shop about 815am.
Then watched Netflix disc 'THE MISSING PERSON'. An alcoholic Chicago PI is paid to follow a man and later it's revealed that he was one 'of the missing' from the twin towers attack on 9/11. His wife only wants to talk to him, but he has a new life dedicated to helping lost children. The shattered detective struggles with 'doing the right thing'. A superior 'hard-boiled film noir'; Michael Shannon and Amy Ryan.
Time Out:"It’s Shannon’s slow, steady world of hurt that makes the film watchable." However, I think it makes a lot more than just 'watchable'. I'd go with 'semi-riveting'.
Then watched 'RED LIGHTS' (IMDB-TV). Two parapsychology researchers study 'mediums' to test their validity. The most popular psychic of the era comes out of retirement and they do their best to debunk his demonstration of psychic abilities. But the ending reveals that one of the investigators was actually a legitimate psychic with real powers and he must deal with this undeniable fact. Corny conclusion, but the first section of the film was pretty good; with Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Jones, and Robert De Niro.
***I sent an email to 91.9FM-UIS that the internet signal has not worked in a couple of days.
2pm: Reading and listening to tapes and a walk outside or a walk on the treadmill later.425pm. Up and out Fairway to Walgreens PO box to mail disc. Washington east to Douglas then south to Fayette, Walnut to Holmes, Laurel west, across McA, Wiggins thru park up the hill, Parkview, Greenview, and up... Talked to a woman 'at the other fireplug house' ~ Have you been back to Fitclub?... 2 HOURS. Mp3, SUPERCHUNK, 'Stand Up' ~ JETRO TULL, 'Star Wars' ~ WILCO.
Home for 'Weekly Cleaning' and in the tub with NIGHT SINS and listening to 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' ~ Wilco, 'The Jesus of Cool' ~ NICK LOWE, BEST OF THE KINGSMEN.
Watched 'DON'T BREAK DOWN: A FILM ABOUT JAWBREAKER' (Amazon Prime). A California punk band is profiled and it boils down to three guys who went from rags to riches and back to rags again. The bass player seemed a bit flamboyant compared to the other two. Was this a factor?
Then watched 'WORLD'S MOST WANTED- FELICIEN KABUGA: THE FINANCIER OF THE GENOCIDE IN RWANDA' (Netflix). This man paid for hundreds of thousands of machetes to use in the slaughter of the Tutsi's by the Hutu's. And he also owned and operated the radio station that was directly responsible for creating the political and social setting for the genocide. Will save the last twenty minutes for tomorrow.
