Sa 11/28/20- Buddy's Condition

 Sa 11/28/20

Up 830am: Bright and sunny with temps to the lower 50's.

Buddy had thrown up during the night and he couldn't keep down the little bit of food I gave him this morning.

I spent a long time writing an email about Buddy's condition to Janny. I've written the note but apprehensive about sending it because it is most unsettling news. Once I hit 'send', there's no turning back and I didn't send it until several hours later. It seems so final, but I guess that's what it is- 'finality'. And, Buddy has been quiet and not his usual self. He hasn't kept down any food.

I watched the last three hours of 'THE VOW'.  I did nine hours of this in 2 days.

My email to Janny about Buddy:

"Yesterday I had to take Buddy back to the vet.

He was throwing up and I thought that the 'ear/thyroid' medicine did not agree with him. The vet said that the medicine was not working because his hyperthyroidism is too far advanced. She suggested that I could take him to SIU for advanced treatment, but due to his advanced age he most likely would not survive the treatment.

She told me..."It's time to begin to say goodbye"... That simple sentence came out of the blue and rocked me like a punch in the face. The hyperthyroidism affects his heart and he is very prone to heart attack. She couldn't say how long he might last (it could be days, weeks, or months), but he'll be here with me at 940 for as long as he can. This morning he threw up his breakfast and I'm hoping that this was because of the residual effects of the medicine. And, if he gets to too sick she described their euthanasia procedure.

'Senior' cats are 11-14 years and 'Super-Senior' cats are over 15 years. Buddy is going on fifteen, so he's a 'Super-Senior'. He's had a very good life and he has enriched my life immeasurably. Buddy has been such a big part of my life that I don't think I'll even begin to realize how much he has meant to me until he's gone. Right now I'm pretty numb, but I guess the 'end game' is just part of the 'owner/pet experience' and I'll get through it and nothing can make me forget the great times Buddy and I have shared.

Sorry I couldn't deliver a more upbeat message, but that's where we are today....kw...

I finished this note several hours ago, but I just couldn't hit 'send' because it's probably the worst email I've ever written."

220pm...Parkview, Country Club, Laurel, Park, across Wash. Pk., up the asphalt road, Parkview, Fairway, and up to 940...ONE HOUR AND 30 MINS... Mp3... 91.9 FM.

When I walked up to the house Bob and Carol were working on the front lawn of the abandoned house. He was raking the roof and he gave me $30. I went inside and got him a five.

Buddy still won't eat and I am beginning to get worried if he will hold it together until Brewer opens on Monday. I'm still hoping that he is still suffering the effects of the 'ear/thyroid medicine'.

I read on the couch with Buddy on my lap for about 40 mins. Then in the tub with HOAG and THE ALLMAN BROS for the entire session.

I watched 'HEROIN: CAPE COD, USA' (HBO- Xfinity). A low- budget documentary about young suburban heroin addicts on Cape Cod, MA.

Then I watched most of episode 1 of 'THE COMEDY STORE' (Showtime- Xfinity). Mitzi Shore's Comedy Store really did change the face of American comedy. Her biggest innovation is that she let comedians follow each other. Before, a comic was followed by a juggler or a magician.
