930am. 405pm. 935pm.
Up 8am: Cloudy with a wintry mix beginning late this afternoon and through the night- temps to the upper 30's. Not much precipitation today, but temps rising all week and by Saturday it might hit 50.
Watched 'STILL LIFE' (Kanopy). The film plots a man as he tries to locate his missing wife to see his daughter and a woman as she tries to find her husband and sue for divorce. The film is hypnotically paced and features beautiful vistas of a river, gorges, and an entire city that is being demolished for the Three Gorges Dam. I guess the point is that Chinese bureaucracy cares nothing for the poor.
***Picture quality at Kanopy is a problem. I messed with the speed settings, but they only perform like a 'fast forward' or 'reverse' and have nothing to do with picture quality. The site recommended updating the browser and to remember that old films don't compare to HD.
Watched the next episode of 'CAPITANI' (Netflix). The missing twin sister shows up at her dead sister's funeral mass.
1245pm: ON THE TREADMILL...FOUR AND A QUARTER MILES at 3.4 pace and watched the first episode of 'THE 14TH AMENDMENT- with Will Smith' (Netflix) and more of TIM DILLON on THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE.
Did the Weekly Cleaning and then read 'THE LOST WEEKEND'. Finished the episode of WU-TANG CLAN that I began last night. Then watched 'THE RISE OF JORDAN PETERSON' (Amazon Prime). A Canadian academic and media provocateur who has some good points ("If you want to be a right wing fanatic get a job, get married, support your family and go to church") and some very bad points ("Order is masculine and feminine is Chaos") but always presented with as much intellectual fireworks as possible. He excels in promoting dissent and it is clear that he believes that there is no such thing as bad publicity.
620pm: ON THE TREADMILL...2 Miles and watched some of SKEPTIC TANK and some JORDAN PETERSON.
In the tub with JACKSON and listening to KEVIN GORDON, GURF MORLIX.
I had planned to watch the next episode of 'AMEND: The Fight For America-RESISTANCE' (Netflix)......But got ripped and remembered that 'the missing twin had resurfaced' on the mystery series from Luxembourg, so I couldn't resist the next episode of 'CAPITANI' (Netflix).
Then next episode of 'AMEND: The Fight For America-RESISTANCE'. This segment explores the fiction that the pre-civil war South was a paradise of growth, contentment, and wealth where blacks 'knew their place' and everyone was happy and got along. This historical non-reality and it appealed to northern whites because whenever they felt overwhelmed by immigration or social change, they could look back to this fantasy of order and stability and hope that someday soon they could be back on top just like The Old South did. And, the US supreme court refused to take a stand for the slaves that they had just fought a civil war to free. Basically the court said that blacks are now free, and have been for decades so what do you want us to do? So southern states rolled back all of the advances of the 14th Amendment meaning that blacks might be theoretically free, but under the law, you are not.
Found a cooking show on Netflix called 'COOKED WITH CANNABIS'. Pretty lame and the doses of cannabis in the food were absurdly low.
