Up 745am: Partly sunny with temps to low 30's.

Watched 'BELOW ZERO' (Netflix). A Spanish Action/Thriller about a nighttime prison transfer in a wilderness area fifty miles northwest of Madrid. The prisoners are in a large truck and each is locked in a closet sized cell. The silliest way to transport any humans anywhere. The truck has been hijacked by a man who has engineered the heist to force one of the prisoners to reveal the location of his dead daughter. The convict and another guy raped and killed her and hid the body in an abandoned well. An exceptionally odd scene: The transfer vehicle is left on a frozen lake and allowed to fall through the ice with all on board.

1240pm: A walk outside and will pick up some saltines at Walgreens. The box that I opened yesterday was good to eat only till May of 2020. The part of a single cracker that I ate tasted like it had been soaked in insect repellant.

Parkview, south side of Wash. Pk, north on Park, Adams, Washington, over to Super Cuts; fifteen minutes, bought a big box of Cheez Its for four bucks (Saltines were on sale for $3.50 and you can get the same box for a buck and a quarter at County Market), Lawrence, Kenyon, and down to 940; An Hour and A Half Walk.  

***I hadn't really planned on it (it's been in the back of my mind for weeks), but I stopped at Super Cuts and got a haircut: $15 and a $3.50 tip. It looks nice and I should have done this weeks ago. 

I read more of 'THE LAWS OF OUR FATHERS' and then watched one of the two Netflix discs that I received this afternoon.

'AFFLICTED' (I just noticed that this film is on Amazon Prime). An enjoyable, low-budget, found-footage vampire film about two guys who are making a video documentary of their trip around the world. One of the guys has a brain aneurysm that will kill him soon and when they go clubbing in Paris, a female vampire gives him 'the bite of eternity'. She thought he would appreciate the gift since he was dying anyway. The first half of the film, where the two guys grapple with 'the change' and the implications, provide the best parts of the film. Derek Lee and Cliff Prowse wrote the screenplay and starred in the film. The movie won 6 awards and was nominated for 11 more.

550pm: ON THE TREADMILL...2 Miles and watched HOW NEAL FEEL and began YANNI PAPPAS on JOE ROGAN. 

In the tub with TUROW and listening to HORACE SILVER, SON VOLT, THE WHO. 

***Received an email invitation to visit Joe and Janny tomorrow at 5pm. 

Watched the next episode of 'ZERO ZERO ZERO' (Amazon Prime). The shipment is on its way, but the kid with Lou Gehrig's Disease is murdered.

The last half of a 'BLING EMPIRE' episode that I started earlier in the week.

And most of a 'GETTING DOUG WITH HIGH' with Sen Dog and Tony Hinchcliffe.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer.  Th 10/2/25 8am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 10am (1-B: Citrus Mac). 1220pm (2-LB: Citrus Mac). 535pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 810pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 715am: {took a dump at 4am}. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
