 Th 4/8/21

945 am. 305 pm. 930 pm,

Up 745 am: Partly cloudy with temps only to the upper 50's.

Wrote up 'HANNIBAL' by Thomas Harris for the blog and cancelled the Woods appointment on 4/12.

Watched 'THE RESISTANCE BANKER' (Netflix). "In this country only the sun rises for free". The film is about a clique of bankers who developed a 'shadow' banking system in Belgium during WWII. This financial resistance movement funded people who couldn't exist under the Nazi system- such as runaway Jews, forced laborers, Allied sympathizers, anti-Nazi journalists, striking labor union members, and many other segments of the Dutch society. Moving Scene: A Dutch passenger train slowly passes a train loaded with Jews in boxcars. They're on parallel tracks, but headed in the opposite direction.

1 pm: ON THE TREADMILL...5 Miles and finished PARIS HILTON on Whitney Cummings and more of NATE BARGATZE on Skeptic TANK.

315 pm: Watched 'BAD LIEUTENANT' (Amazon Prime). Not much of a plot because it's simply a character study of a man on a violent spiral to oblivion with the aid of sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, and a crippling  gambling addiction. The film takes place during a fictional National League championship series with the Mets playing the Dodgers. The Mets lost the first three games and then came back to win four out of seven. This didn't happen. Also, is a disturbing subplot about a nun who is brutally raped by two neighbor boys. She forgives them. Directed by Abel Farrara. In the Trivia section for the movie it says that Ferrara was furious when he saw Werner Herzog's film 'BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS' (Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes). He thought Herzog was making a sequel or a remake of 'BAD LIEUTENANT'. It was neither, but the two films share a very similar title that probably adds to the confusion.

510 pm: ON THE TREADMILL...2 Miles at 3.4 pace and watched more of TIM DILLON on ARI SHAFFIR.

6 pm: In the tub with LETHEM and listening to NEIL YOUNG, THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS, 'Tommy' ~THE WHO.

Watched Netflix disc 'WIN WIN'. A quirky 'feel good' dramedy about the dynamics of new, non-traditional families. A cash-strapped lawyer becomes a guardian for an old man to earn $1,500 a month. But, he gains the old man's grandson who happens to be a very good wrestler and the lawyer is a high school wrestling coach; with Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, Jeffrey Tambor, Burt Young, and Margo Martindale.
