 Mo 5/24/21

845am. 310pm. 840pm.

Up 7am: Partly sunny, muggy with temps to upper 80's.

***745am: I got a call from 'Mike with Acculevel' who will come out on Wednesday between 8am-10am.

I found a Woody Allen film on Hoopla that I'd never seen for the Morning Movie; 'CASSANDRA'S DREAM'. This didn't get very positive reviews, but I really liked it. Cassandra is a character in Greek mythology who was cursed by Apollo to speak true prophecies, but never to be believed. Two brothers refuse to deal with reality and squander their lives on gambling and phony money-making schemes. Their rich uncle convinces them to kill a business rival and this act destroys the brothers. The film is kind of a 'kitchen sink' English tragedy; with Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell, Sally Hawkins, and Tom Wilkinson.

***I got a call from Agnes Fenner's office that my June appointment has been rescheduled for August.

I wrote the 'Weekly Wrap' and sent it off.

1245pm: Downstairs to move the books and bookshelf next to the stereo. When this is done I will have the room nearly cleared. It took about 45 mins. to move the bookcase to behind the treadmill.

Read/napped in the living room.

340pm: Parkview, panhandle, Lowell, Outer Park, Laurel, Wiggins, Wash. Pk., up the hill, Parkview, Fairway, and up to 940...TWO HOURS AND 10 MINS... Mp3... WAYNE SHORTER~CARLOS SANTANA AT MONTREUX, LIVE VAN MORRISON.

In the tub with LETHEM, but began 'THE 13TH DIRECTORATE" by Barry Chubin (I found this novel while moving books),  and listening to LIVE SPRINGSTEEN.

I watched 'WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS: A MAN WITHIN' (Amazon Prime)...    'The complete de-anxietized man' (without anxiety)..."Would you rather be a poisonous snake or a non-poisonous snake?"..."Dead people are safer than live ones. It's a step in the right direction". Lots of facts about Burroughs's personal life that I was unaware of, for example, his extreme love of cats, his fetish of 'personal protection' (knives, derringers), and he drank alcohol heavily. He first quit junk in the mid 1950's, but he used it infrequently for the rest of his life. He was also a big 'gun nut'. It's unbelievable that he lived to be 83.
