 Sa 5/1/21- Mowed the lawn

925am. 1130am. 155pm. 930pm.

Up 750am:  Mostly sunny, breezy with temps to just over 80.

Watched 'THE EDUCATION OF SHELBY KNOX' (Kanopy). Is it about a young woman who is learning to think for herself or is it about a young woman who is losing her religion? A completely enjoyable and weirdly educational documentary (Do people in the Modern Era actually believe this stuff?), but I wonder if the film was more scripted than it seemed to be.  Maybe they kept the cameras rolling and then edited juicy soundbites as needed. Regardless of the intent, the youth pastor was hilarious. "Being a Christian and being a Democrat is like oil and water". The film contains an actual 'Purity Ceremony' and it was a truly psychedelic experience.

"Life in Lubbock, Texas taught me two things: One is that God loves you and you're going to burn in hell; the other is that sex is the most awful, filthy thing on Earth and you should save it for someone you love"....Butch Hancock of The Flatliners.

Then watched 'CHARLEY PRIDE: I'M JUST ME' (Kanopy). Charlie Pride broke into Country Western as he was trying to play baseball in the major leagues. He was playing for a sub-minor league team in Montana and began his singing career as a sideline. And from there he took it to Nashville, and then the world. An interesting career and the bio was well worth a look.

130pm: PC is 'Off' and getting ready to drop last night's disc at the Monroe PO downtown.

205pm: Out Edwards and back, Lawrence, MacA, Wash. Pk. North side, up the hill, Parkview, and down to 940...ONE HOUR and 50 MINS... Mp3... BECK, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB.

Reading in the living room and finished 'THE SLEEPING EARTH' by John Brunner.

545pm: Mowed the lawn, then in the tub at 650pm to start 'THE WATER' S LOVELY' and listened to LORD HURON, LIVE LOU REED.

****Made an order for more cannabis to pick up tomorrow between 10-1020am.

Watched 'WHITE SANDS' (Amazon Prime).   A confusing, noir-ish cop thriller about a local New Mexican cop who finds a body in the desert with a suitcase containing a half million dollars. He becomes involved with an F.B.I investigation of corruption and most of the 'good guys' are 'bad'...or something. The lead actors were worth the price of the admission; with  Willem Dafoe, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, and M. Emmet Walsh. Filmed in Estancia, Santa Fe, Taos, Alamogordo, New Mexico.
