910am. 335pm. 930pm.
Up 720am: Muggy and sweltering with heat indexes in the triple digits- mid 90's.
I put the recliner in the garage and then I read the email from Habitat that the pickup is NOT for recycling items, so it won't matter if the chair gets wet. Later I read the email confirmation (must have been sent after 10pm last night) and I learned that this stuff is for resale so it wouldn't matter if it got wet.
Watched 'BEATS' (Kanopy). It's the early 90's and the Rave Scene in Lothian, Scotland is taking off. The giddy intoxication of this gritty and intoxication movement is a perfect backdrop for this heart-felt 'rights of passage' saga. It's about two friends. One is heading for a sweet suburban life and the other is 'human scum'. Shot in black and white and highlights the dirty, hopelessness of the area and the times (Southeastern Scotland including the city of Edinburgh). "Know your role, shut your hole". A compelling, low-budget feature that nailed it.
***I learned that because Pluto TV is absolutely free there is no search engine. You just browse and hope that you find what you're looking for.
Then I watched 'MUSCLE SHOALS' (Tubi). Clarence Carter (PATCHES), Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin (RESPECT), Etta James, Duane Allman, Jimmy Cliff (SITTING IN LIMBO), Steve Winwood (TRAFFIC- 'Shoot Out at The Fantasy Factory), Bob Segar (MAINSTREET), Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Boz Scaggs, The Staple Singers, Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson, Levon Helm, Carlos Santana, John Prine, and more.
3614 Jackson Highway was formed when The Swampers left Rick Hall of Fame Studios.
'EXILE ON MAINSTREET' would have been cut in Muscle Shoals, but Keith wasn't allowed in the country.
Helen Keller was from Muscle Shoals.
150pm: On the treadmill...5 MILES AT 3.4 PACE... Finished watching 'KINGPIN' and some of a WHITNEY CUMMINGS podcast and SARAH SILVERMAN and JOE ROGAN.
Read DANIEL WOODRELL in the living ROOM.
620pm: On the treadmill... 2 MILES AT 3.4 PACE...I began Season 2 of 'BLACK SUMMER'.
In the tub with more WOODRELL ~ 'Under The Bright Lights' and listening to ALBERT COLLINS, 3614 JACKSON HIGHWAY {Muscle Shoals}, Live ORNETTE COLEMAN.
***Fairly heavy rain sweeping through the area.
Watched 'BRICK MANSIONS' (Pluto TV). A criminal gang has an ancient soviet missile armed with a neutron bomb and it's aimed at downtown Detroit. But the mayor was behind it all because he wanted to blow away the 'Brick Mansions' (a racially and economically segregated section of future Detroit) because they were full of 'undesirables'. Definitely a French influenced 'parkour' film with lots of running around, imaginative gun-play, and elaborate car chases; with Paul Walker, RZA, Gouchy Boy, and Catalina Denis. Paul Walker was killed in a car accident and this film was released after his death. He was an owner of a motor racing team. The screenplay was written by Luc Besson.
