We 6/16/21

915am. 1210pm. 220pm. 940pm.

Up 650am: Spent an hour adding cassettes to the trash barrel and I watered the front flowers. I need a new hose, but what to do with the old one?

Sunny with temps to 86, but the heat wave is just around the corner. It's supposed to get to 118 in Phoenix today and it's heading to The Land of Drinkin'.

I wrote up 'THE HAVANA ROOM'- Colin Harrison and 'EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE'- M. William Phelps for the blog.

Watched 'FELON' (Netflix). A young father kills an intruder who was robbing his home late one night. He picked up a baseball bat and crushed the thug's skull, but the fact that the thief had run from the house, he was not a threat, so the charge is no longer self defense but becomes murder. While in prison he becomes part of a 'gladiator school' run by corrupt prison guards..."an ordinary Joe trapped behind bars with warring ethnic psychopaths"; with Stephen Dorff, Val Kilmer, and Sam Shepard. This was a fine film and it reminded me of 'SHOT CALLER', yet that was the better film.

Then I watched 'SMALL TOWN CRIME' (Netflix). An alcoholic ex-cop finds a dying prostitute by the side of the road and gets involved in a deadly blackmail scene. The ex-cop drives an early 70's muscle car and it's almost a character in the drama. Filmed in scenic Utah with John Hawkes, Anthony Anderson, Octavia Spencer, Robert Forster, and Clifton Collins Jr..

2pm: PC is 'Off' and will spend the afternoon at Planet Fitness.

240pm: 45" Cross. 45" Treadmill. 30" Bike. 30" treadmill. 30" Cross. An hour Netflix doc on the chocolate farmers of the Ivory Coast and 'FRESH FRIED AND CRISPY' ; some SHAFFIR, SANTINO, and CUMMINGS.

Home to read more GRAHAM GREENE. 710pm: In the tub with GREENE and listening to ZZ TOP- 'Mescalero', JOHNNY MARR~ 'The Messenger', then part of a Whitney Cummings podcast featuring TIM DILLON.

Began 'LIONS FOR LAMBS' (Amazon Prime- Leaving 6/30).  A muddled polemic about the war in Afghanistan. I didn't understand the underlying message. Was it  Patriotism or Skepticism? with Robert Redford (also directed), Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, Michael Pena, and Andrew Garfield...."The only good thing about morning is that it ends at noon"....The best line in the movie although it had nothing to do with the movie.
