We 6/9/21
825am. 1040am. 250pm. 935pm.
Up 7am: Partly sunny, muggy with temps to mid 80's.
***Checked downstairs PC and Updates had run and needed a restart. However, when I restarted, I couldn't get it to see if it was 'Up To Date'. And the internet speed is only in the high 30's.
Watched 'BIAS' (Hoopla). FUN FACT: Some people on Nextdoor join the site to 'Fight Crime'. "Black and Hispanics commit more crime, so I am only making my neighborhood safer when I spot possible criminal activity".
"Black Americans are 2.5 times more likely than white Americans to be shot and killed by a police officer. In these cases, black Americans are twice as likely to be unarmed as white counterparts."
A boy is in a bad car accident with his father. The father dies and in the operating room the surgeon arrives and says, "I cannot operate on this boy, he is my son". Who is the surgeon? His mother. Most people don't get this because of an implicit bias. They cannot accept that a woman could be a surgeon.
Implicit Bias Test. "Women In The Orchestra"- to show No Bias a curtain was used so that judges wouldn't get any visual clues about auditions. Women went from 2% of the orchestra to almost 40%.
Then I watched the next episode of 'BLACKSPACE' (Netflix). Only one more episode (finished at Planet Fitness and was hardly worth the effort. Not the best series by any means).
I took one of the Implicit Bias tests, but I really didn't understand some of the series of questions. But it did show that I show a bias of Christianity over Islam. That's not accurate because I think they are both of little value.
***New format on the 91.9 FM page makes the volume controls even more worthless.
1pm: 'PC' is Off and I checked and the Updates are current. Will read for a bit and then to Planet Fitness.
3pm: 45" Cross. 45" Treadmill. 30" Bike. 30" Treadmill. 30" Cross: 3 HOURS. TOTAL.
In the tub with HARRISON and listening to MASTERS OF REALITY, KYUSS, KING Curtis, BIG BLACK.
Began 'BEATRIZ AT DINNER' (Tubi). Class Warfare in La La Land... A lady massage therapist gets to stay for dinner at a client's house and the corporate raiders at the party are no match for the her social conscience. I liked it, but I think it went a little awry. Here's a view from THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: "A little more subtlety and a more nuanced approach to the dynamics of this culture clash would have made the film that little bit more effective."
