Fr 7/23/21-KYES CONCLUDES!
Fr 7/23/21
3pm. 920pm.
Up 630am: Hot and hazy with temps to 90. Triple digit heat indexes predicted for tomorrow.
I watered the front flowers.
Tony and Trent arrived just after 8am and they should have the trim, new door, and touch up painting done early this afternoon. Zane is off today and I haven't gotten the email of his bill.
I sent Adam a text and he will try to drop by today to see the room and pick up his sign.
My credit limit on the chase card is $10,000 and I'd like twenty, but I'd settle for five more.
To increase the amount I need to call the number on the back of the card.
I watched the bonus features of the Netflix disc 'MINDING THE GAPS' from last night. This reminded me of the documentary film 'STEVIE' where the main character is revealed as someone very different from who he was at the start of the film. Also, it's as good as 'HOOP DREAMS' in that 'MINDING THE GAPS' also deals with subjects (basketball and skateboarding) that do not interest me, but these topics are central to the lives of the characters and allows the film maker to do a deep examination of their inner lives. 'MINDING THE GAP' won 59 awards and was nominated for 53.
'STEVIE' is available on Tubi TV and I plan to re-watch that one soon.
Zane sent the invoice and I told Tony that I could pay them when they are done; ($5,911.56). A little after 10am I walked to the box at Walgreens to mail back 'MINDING THE GAP'.
The guys finished by 11am and I gave them the check. Read for a bit and then ate a bowl of rice.
1pm: On the treadmill... 5 MILES~ The last 2 miles at 3.5 pace. I watched a SARAH SILVERMAN podcast and began a 'WHISKEY GINGER podcast.
I used the Altec speaker and it works great, but the low battery forced me to use the old phone and the treadmill speakers.
I wonder if the Bluetooth code is somewhere in the paperwork for the treadmill?
3pm: Watched Netflix disc 'DARK WATER'. It unfolds at a leisurely pace, but packs a wallop. Parkesburg, West Virginia was the site of the Dow Chemical plant that brought the world Teflon. The film takes place over twenty years and posits that government protection agencies have become fronts for corporations that harm the environment the most. 99% of all the people on the planet have at least traces of the chemicals used in the making of Teflon and these substances have been proven to cause all sorts of cancers in humans. According to the article about the film in Wikipedia, Dow and 3M are losing money and the stock prices are falling. Directed by Todd Haynes, with Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway, Tim Robbins, Bill Camp, and Mare Winningham.
630pm: On the treadmill...2 MILES AT 3.4 PACE and watched the first episode of '21ST CENTURY SERIAL KILLER ' (Netflix).
715pm; In the tub with ALGREN and the treadmill manual to pair speakers to the phone and listening to JOE BONAMASSA, and some dull news podcasts. And no info on how to pair the treadmill with the phone. I'll have to call.
***FIRST NIGHT IN THE REMODELED ROOM***Watched 'TEXAS CHAINSAW' (Amazon Prime- leaving August 1st). This is not to be confused with the original, (but I'm sure that this is a phony way of connecting this to the more famous work) 'THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE" (1974), but gets in some bloody jabs. I'll save the last forty minutes for tomorrow...possibly.
I watched the last ten minutes of '21ST CENTURY SERIAL KILLER' (Amazon Prime) that I began watching this afternoon... Black, ex-college football player targets young woman for rape and murder at university campuses near Charlottesville, VA. I couldn't believe how they demonized this guy.
