850 am, 305pm. 835pm.
Up 7am: Mostly sunny with temps to about 80.
I watched 'GENIUS' (Amazon Prime- the film leaves Amazon soon). The film primarily concerns the relationship between Thomas Wolfe and his editor at Scribner's, Max Perkins. Thomas Wolfe never saw a word he didn't like and Perkins's agenda was to cut the flab at all costs. The biggest take-away is that the film highlights the positive influence that a good editor can have on even an established author. Perkins also edited Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. A star-studded cast, yet only received mediocre reviews; with Colin Firth, Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Dominic West, Guy Pearce, and Laura Linney.
1145 am: PC is 'Off' and mowed the lawn. But before I shut down I decided to take the plunge and download the 'big' Windows Update that I had been postponing. It took just a few minutes and the new version did not ask to add a pin number. I wonder why the downstairs machine is running a different edition?
12pm~1245pm: Start to finish; no sweeping or trimming.
I finally finished 'A MAN IN FULL' by Tom Wolfe in the living room while listening to BETTY DAVIS and BIG BILL BROONZY. A great read! Then I began a sci-fi novel by Steven Burgauer called 'FORNAX'. This turned out to be pretty poorly written, and too little time and too many books so I settled on 'UNDER THE VOLCANO' by Malcolm Lowry.
310pm: Walk Downtown, but I left the disc in my mailbox for the carrier. Edwards, 4th south to South Grand alley and west to Wash. Pk., south side asphalt, Parkview, Kenyon, and down to 940...ONE HOUR AND 50 MINS... Mp3... ADRIAN BELEW, BLUE CHEER, BRIAN ENO.
Read and then at 630 pm in the tub to select another novel and listen to BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY, BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE, THE BLACK CROWES.
***I got an email while in the tub that Thomas Drew Brandenburg had finally arrived to Jamie and Melissa.
Watched 'OTHER PEOPLE' (Netflix). A TV comedy writer's mom is dying, he's just broken up with his long-time lover, and his father has never accepted his sexual orientation. A very 'deep dive' into a twisted family and how they cope with the death of their mother. How come comedians can do such dark, dramatic work? Directed by Chris Kelly (SNL); with Jesse Plemons, Molly Shannon, Bradley Whitford, June Squibb, and Paul Dooley.
