I borrowed 2 films from Hoopla; 'THE PAINTED VEIL' and 'MURDER BY NUMBERS'.

Watched 'THE PAINTED VEIL' (Hoopla). A vain and self-centered English rich girl marries a doctor just to get away from her horrible family. She has an affair with a local cad, the doctor finds out and gives her an ultimatum.  She must accompany him to fight a cholera epidemic that is raging in central China or face divorce and disgrace. She chooses the epidemic where he dies and she acquires an understanding of love and devotion; with Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber, and Toby Jones.  A fairly successful exotic Art-House treatment of a novel by Somerset Maugham..." infidelity in a time of cholera". 

Watched the next episode of 'MAID' (Netflix). This series is all over the map, but very compelling. 

2pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk.

Finished 'BRIGHT ANGEL TIME' by Martha McPhee and read more of 'HOLLYWOOD ' by GORE VIDAL.

505pm: TWO MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and watched a JOEY DIAZ podcast. 

In the tub to begin 'CHOKE' by CHUCK PALAHNIUK and listening to ROY BUCHANAN, LESLIE WEST & MOUNTAIN.

Began 'MURDER BY NUMBERS' (Hoopla- borrowed this morning)... "All real freedom risks crime. Indeed freedom is crime because it thinks first of itself and not a group". Two clever high school boys try to commit the 'perfect murder' but the razor sharp lady detective has got other ideas; with Sandra Bullock, Ben Chaplin, Ryan Gosling, Michael Pitt, and Chris Penn. .

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}.
