Sa 1/1/22- New Year!
850am. 145pm. 745pm.Up 720am: Cold with a wintry mix beginning this evening with temps to low 30's. We could get about an inch of sleet/ice/snow.
***I noticed that I had two light bulbs for the bathroom mirror under the sink. How about that?
The people next door had some people over for New Year's Eve, but all was silent as a tomb. Yesterday when I finished the walk Carol told me that the people in the abandoned house will be back in the spring. They need a new furnace so they can't live there during the winter and I wonder if they will continue to feel that I should mow their front lawn.
Watched 'END OF DAYS' (Amazon Prime). I noticed that it was leaving Amazon Prime today, so I gave it a shot even though it has only a '33 Metascore' at IMDB. Definitely a movie that's so bad it's good. Maximum spooky effects and top-heavy with 'star' power, but the actors are 'damned' with a ludicrous script. Kevin Pollack was the saving grace. He seemed to convey the feeling that he was trapped in a ridiculous feature film; with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Byrne, Robin Tunney, Kevin Pollack, Udo Kier, Mark Margolis, and Rod Steiger (His last performance). Arnold Schwarzenegger won a Razzie for his performance.
Some Zany Quotes:
Concerning God- "Something good happens, 'It's His will.' Something bad happens, 'He moves in mysterious ways'."..."Hey... we're private citizens having a conversation with another citizen. I mean, I don't think they found a way to outlaw that... at least not yet."..."Satan's greatest trick was convincing the world he doesn't exist."
1145am: PC is 'Off' and will do the '5 Miles' early and get in an Afternoon Movie.
150pm: FIVE MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and began BRIAN REDBAN on J.R.E and finished ARI SHAFFIR'S Review of 2019.
130pm: PC is 'On' and I watched 'THE AUSCHWITZ REPORT' (Kanopy). Two Jewish Slovakian prisoners escape from the concentration camp with evidence of the Nazi genocide. When their report was released it was feared that it was too violent and cruel to be believed. Based on a true account-'The Vrba-Wetzler Report'.
Then I watched about half of an episode of 'THE HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY' (Peacock). The bitches go to Cabo to fight, insult, and booze ("Yes, we were cocktailing").
435pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill.
450pm: TWO MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and began SHANE GILLIS on SKEPTIC TANK.
540pm: In the tub and finished 'MAKES ME WANNA HOLLER ' and listening to CURTIS MAYFIELD.
Watched 'REBIRTH' (Netflix). A happy suburban father is visited by an old buddy and this man wants him to attend a weekend retreat to learn about 'Rebirth'. There are no leaders and you can leave whenever you want, but this isn't really how it works. The film has a strange tone and at times is somewhat horrifying and mostly a very dark and mordant satire; with Fran Kranz, Adam Goldberg, Nicky Whelan, and Pat Healy. Not a great film, but most definitely worth a look.
"In the old days people thought that something horrible would happen to them. Now they are afraid that nothing will happen to them".
