 Sa 1/15/22

820am. 1030am (a pinch). 250pm (a pinch). 730pm.

Up 630am: We probably got 2 inches of snow last night and light flurries to continue through late morning but no more accumulation. Temps to about 32.

The mail came late yesterday and I got two Netflix discs: 'THE HUNT' and 'WILD NIGHTS WITH EMILY'.

Watched 'WILD NIGHTS WITH EMILY'.  Apparently Emily Dickinson is widely perceived as a cracked recluse who was too afraid to have her poetry published during her lifetime. The film refutes this claim and portrays her as a woman deeply in love with her sister in law and she also spent her life trying to get anyone to publish her work. Dickinson was also an early and ardent feminist firebrand and after a quick skim at Wikipedia, the film seems to be pretty correct, yet the lesbian love angle might be a bit too pronounced in the movie.  The film is a droll commentary on the life of a brilliant poet with a semi-farcical and semi-tragic tone; with Molly Shannon, Susan Ziegler, Amy Seimetz, and Brett Gelman. *** First woman doctor: Male students at a medical school were asked if it would be OK to admit female medical students. The male students thought it was a joke and voted 'yes'. That's how we got the first female doctor.

Began 'ERIC CLAPTON: STANDING AT THE CROSSROADS' (Amazon Prime). A flattering homage to one of the greatest British guitar heroes of all time. It features interviews with childhood friends and also original members of the Yardbirds and although Clapton admits to being a very unpleasant character during his early years,  we never see a hint of this behavior in the film. This might have made a more interesting movie, but this biopic does present all of the high points of his illustrious career.

1pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for the treadmill.

110pm: FIVE MILES AT 3.7 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and began MARK NORMAND,  ARI SHAFFIR,  and SHANE GILLIS  on J.R.E and more of CARROT TOP on J.R.E.

Weights; 3 sets/ 8 reps.

Read 'THE BLOOD ARTISTS ' and listened to JOHN MAYER.

***Just before I got on the treadmill Buddy threw up. Within a few minutes he seemed fine and I fed him more Friskies later and no more incidents.

450pm: TWO MILES AT 3.7 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and finished CARROT TOP on J.R.E.

540pm:  In the tub with CHUCK HOGAN and listening to JOHN MAYALL- 'Crusader': introducing MICK TAYLOR.

Watched 'WOODLAND' (Amazon Prime).  Two assholes are employed as caretakers on a remote island off the west coast of Canada and the newbie takes photos that might foretell a possible future.  Very interesting setting, but a silly idea.  Set in Haida Gwaii (High-duh Ga-why), a string of islands off the coast of Western Canada northwest of Vancouver. Their history dates back 15,000 years.
