Up 710am: Partly sunny with temps barely out of the single digits and wind chills below zero.

Watched 'TRUE GRIT' (Netflix). A young girl seeks revenge for the murder of her father and enlists the aid of a boozy officer of the law (Rooster Cogburn) and a Texas Ranger (LaBoeuf). Great locations, snappy dialogue, and some interesting gunplay; with Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Barry Pepper, and Hailee Steinfeld.
Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the screenplay and directed the film. Nominated for 10 Oscars- 38 wins & 169 nominations total.

***I tried to register for the free Aetna CVS Health Solutions, but it wouldn't work. I called and ordered $47 worth of vitamins and supplements. When the call was finished I was able to register on the website. The confirmation order number and the list of codes for the order is in the kitchen drawer with the calendar.

Watched the next episode of 'STAY CLOSE' (Netflix). Filmed in Blackpool, Liverpool, and Manchester, England.

1pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill.

 120pm: FIVE MILES AT 3.6 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and finished the last installment of 'STAY CLOSE' (Netflix), and began TIM DILLON on J.R.E.

545pm: In the tub with 'LONDON' and listening to BRANFORD MARSALIS; THE DAVE HOLLAND QUINTET.

Watched 'AND SO IT GOES' (Amazon Prime). An irascible real estate agent from Bridgeport, CT. is forced to take care of his granddaughter (who he had never met) while his son spends a few months in jail. Grandpa changes his ways after falling in love with a neighbor lady and bonding with the kid; with Michael Douglas, Diane Keaton, Sterling Jerins, Frances Sternhagen, and Rob Reiner (he also directed). A perfect review from The A.V. Club- "A mediocre movie, starring two great actors who’ve certainly done worse, that benefits from baseline competence and lowered expectations".

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
