Mo 5/30/22- Buddy Sick/Memorial Day
835am (2). 1150am (1). 205pm (1). 710pm (1).
Buddy threw up just outside the bedroom door about 5am. I cleaned it up and then slept until 615am. He needs a new gel-pen and I will ask the vet about whether he should come in for a checkup.
***1045am: He's kept down his food/ 2 platefuls and seems his normal self, but I will mention it to the vet tomorrow.
Partly sunny, breezy with temps to the upper 80's.
I had planned to walk downtown to mail the letters back to MetLife about the checks that were not cashed, pay the real estate taxes at the county building, and stop at the library to pick up 'THE TERMINAL LIST' by Jack Carr, but I realized that everything will be closed for Memorial Day.
PLAN # 2- Get the new router/modem from Best Buy and pick up the gel-pen. However, it looks like Brewer is closed for the day. If I had realized that Monday was a holiday I would have picked up the pen on Friday. Router shopping today and the downtown walk will be tomorrow; library, county building, and post office.
Watched 'POSSESSOR' (Kanopy). It's an automatic 'cult fave'- equal parts SciFi and Gore. Assassins of the future are able to 'merge' with another person, commit the 'hit' and then are 'beamed back' with (not necessarily) a minimum of collateral damage and traumatic brain injury. This was a thoroughly engaging Art Film; with Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, Rossif Sutherland, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Directed by Brandon Croenberg. Awards: 15 wins & 39 nominations.
11am: PC is 'Off' and I plan to read for a bit, write up a list of what I plan to do later, and then hit the sidewalks.
12pm: Fairway, Greenview, Parkview, Wash.Pk northside, Walnut, Leland Lincoln, Outer Park, Wiggins, Wash.Pk southside, up the hill, Parkview, Kenyon, and down to 940....ONE HOUR AND 50 MINUTES....Mp3...THE ALPHA BAND; SQUIRREL BAIT.
210pm: Errands- I had 'high hopes' to get cash at the ATM, weed and the router/modem.
ATM at Heartland 'No Go'. I have no idea why the card didn't work. I tried on the walk at the Heartland branch on South Grand near Walnut and it wouldn't work and then at my branch. The card is valid because it worked when I bought the router at Best Buy. I stopped at Best Buy and got a mid-high priced router. I forgot to ask the clerk if it would make the wifi in the house more powerful: $300.
355pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and more of JACK CARR on J.R.E.
455pm: In the tub with 'LILY WHITE' and listening to FAT MATTRESS; BLUE CHEER; BLODWYN PIG.
Finished JACK CARR on J.R.E and began CHRISTINA P. on J.R.E.
Watched my last pick for this month on Kanopy 'HOLLYWOOD ON TRIAL'. A superior documentary about the 'Hollywood Blacklist' of the late 40's through the 50's. Ronald Regan is seen as a voice of reason but his first move when he became president (many years later) was to break the air comptrollers union. The entire movie was one interview after another with people on both sides of the issue. Narrated by John Huston.
