Watched Netflix disc 'MATEWAN'. A mesmerizing account of the bloody struggles between the mine owners and the union workers that exploded in the small town of Matewan, West Virginia in 1920; with Chris Cooper, James Earl Jones, Mary McDonnell, Will Oldham, and David Strathairn. Directed by John Sayles.From Wikipedia:
"On May 19, 1920, a shootout in Matewan, West Virginia, between agents of the Baldwin-Felts and local miners, who later joined the United Mine Workers of America, sparked what became known as the Battle of Blair Mountain, the largest insurrection in the United States since the American Civil War."

Watched 'HARD LUCK LOVE SONG' (Amazon Prime). A gritty, kitchen sink fable about a contemporary 'pool hustler/karaoke cowboy' who reunites with an old girlfriend who happens to be a prostitute. Filmed on the mean streets of Long Beach, California and based on a song by Todd Snider- 'Just Like Old Times'; with Michael Dorman, Sophia Bush, Dermot Mulroney, RZA, and Eric Roberts.
