Up 530am: Mostly sunny with temps to about 80.
Watched the Netflix disc 'COP SHOP'. I had seen this one before but it was well worth a second look. It's a splatterfest of gun violence played out against a dialogue driven story. If you deleted the furious gunplay, it could have been a stage play; with Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, Toby Huss, Chad L. Coleman, and Ryan O'Nan. Filmed in New Mexico.
940am: I put the computer on 'sleep' and walked the disc over to the Walgreens PO box; 20".
Finished 'NATURAL BORN KILLERS' (Netflix). Mickey and Mallory are the celebrated romantic sociopathic heroes of the era and seem to represent a prevalent point of view. Everyone is very much aware of what is going on with their current social, political and economic life. The whole game is rotten to the core and it's high time for Evil to wipe the slate clean. The direction (Oliver Stone) was frenzied and over-the-top and 'NATURAL BORN KILLERS' is a solid Film Classic.
1155am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill. The plan is to take a late afternoon walk to Washington Park (but this didn't happen).
1210pm: FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and more of WHITNEY CUMMINGS on J.R.E, and part of a JOEY'S JOINT.
Reading 'THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM'.
355pm: TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and finished JOEY'S JOINT and more TIM DILLON on BERTCAST.
440pm: In the tub with the HEINLEIN anthology (a short break from NELSON ALGREN) and listening to my JAZZ playlist.
Began 'THE GLORIAS' (Amazon Prime). A unique presentation of the life of Gloria Steinem. Different actresses play her at different stages in her life; with Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Gloria Steinem, and Timothy Hutton. . "If you don't know what could happen tomorrow it might be wonderful".
I was able to borrow two films from Hoopla at 7pm on a Saturday night. I would have thought that the library's 'borrow ceiling' had been reached twelve hours ago. Change in policy or does my new speed push me to the head of the line?
*** Watch at least one of the films that I borrowed from Hoopla
