 Su 8/21/22

730am (B). 1155am (2- B). 455pm (1- gr/wh). 655pm (2- B). 820pm (1- gr/wh).

Up 610am: Foggy early then partly sunny with temps to about 80.

Watched 'ZULU' (Hoopla). A somewhat factual account of  the Battle of Rorke's Drift, South Africa in January of 1879. A compelling slice of entertainment yet the special effects were laughable. I realize it was shot in 1964 but even then they had realistic retractable spear blades; Stanley Baker and Michael Caine. Richard Burton provided the narration. From the battle's page at Wikipedia:

"...in the long annals of military history, it is difficult to find anything quite like Rorke's Drift, where a beleaguered force, outnumbered 40 to one, survived and killed 20 men for every defender lost".

Stanley Baker who played one of the leads in 'ZULU' was in a 1967 film called 'ACCIDENT' and I found that one on Kanopy. I'll see this one later and I also found 'ZULU DAWN' on Peacock (TV). This is about the South African battle that immediately preceded Rorke's Drift.

1045am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weekly cleaning and then bike to Esporta.

1205pm:  When I got the bike to the breezeway I noticed black clouds moving in. I decided to take the Elantra to Planet Fitness. It didn't really rain but I'm sure it would have if I had taken the bike.

1215pm:  "Cross.  45"Treadmill. 30"Bike.  30" Treadmill.  30"Cross and finished 'SENZO- MURDER OF America SOCCER STAR (NETFLIX)   and finished a TUESDAY'S WITH STORIES.

350pm- 430pm: Finished 'UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN'. One of the best books of the entire True Crime genre.

455pm: In the tub to begin 'NIGHTMARE ALLEY' (read online info about Nick Tosches who wrote the introduction) and listening to 'Expressway To Your Skull'- BUDDY MILES; LAZY LESTER.

Upstairs tonight. Want to read more of 'NIGHTMARE ALLEY' & listening to ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ CRUSADERS with LES MORGAN; ELVIN JONES.
