Up 645am: Poison ivy on my knees (?!?) kept me up. One more beautiful summer day with temps just over 80. 

Watched 'YOUTH IN REVOLT' (Plex).  A sixteen year old suburban kid doesn't want to die a virgin and attracts the girl of his dreams despite his kooky family situation. A very witty dash of Dada/Surrealism: A 60's muscle car is disassembled in the driveway and then reassembled (to everyone's astonishment) in the living room/ dining area of a suburban home; with Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi, Fred Willard, Ray Liotta, Ari Graynor, Rooney Mara, M. Emmet Walsh, and Mary Kay Place. Filmed in Frankfort, Ann Arbor, and Ferndale, Michigan- and some in Louisiana (reshoots).

Watched more of 'THE DEFEATED' (Netflix). 

1150am: To Monroe PO- Out Edwards, back Governor...LESLIE WEST;  J. GEILS BAND...ONE HOUR & 50 MINS. 

Reading 'NIGHTMARE ALLEY'.

4pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT and more of LOUIS C.K & JOE LIST on J.R.E. 

455pm:  In the tub with 'NIGHTMARE ALLEY' and listening to 'The BANG Sessions'- VAN MORRISON. The same year as 'Astral Weeks' and 'Moondance' and 'BANG SESSIONS' is almost like a 'demo' of his ideas that a great bar band fleshed out. 

Around 7pm I checked my email and noticed one from Janny that was sent late this morning telling me that they had a 'gift' for me and wondering what my schedule was. I replied that sorry it was so late. I can't believe that it got by me. But I plan to watch a movie tomorrow, then mow the lawn, and they hit Esporta. I wonder about this gift?

Watched three 30" episodes of 'MO' (Netflix). An interesting series about a Palestinian living in Houston, Texas without a green card.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
