Up 545am: Plenty of sun with temps to mid 70's. Tomorrow's high temperature will not crack 60 degrees. 

***Sometime this morning Joe and Janny are to swing by (between doctor appointments?) to pick up the apples.

Watched 'ELYSIUM' (Netflix). The rich have resettled to a space station orbiting Earth (ELYSIUM) and the people left behind are in dire economic straits. Those left on the planet plot to invade the well appointed satellite colony and enjoy that 'free health care in the sky'.  So many contemporary issues are crammed into this film that it's mind boggling; inequalities of wealth, denial of voting rights, racial prejudice, political corruption, availability of health care. It's an action packed adventure film with a clever political agenda that's well worth a look. Filmed in Mexico and Canada; with Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Diego Luna, and William Fichtner (ENTOURAGE). 

***Workmen next door backed a trailer up my driveway. They were removing the old lady's ancient AC.

Watched more of 'KILLING' (Amazon Prime). 

1205pm: TWO MILES AT 3.8 PACE (forgot to turn it up!)  AND ZERO SLANT and finished JAN WENNER on J.R.E and began the new JOEY'S JOINT.

After the treadmill workout the apples were gone from the breezeway stoop. I gave her 'EVERYONE DIES' by Michael McGarrity along with the fruit.

Reading 'JULIAN'

 440pm: In the tub with 'JULIAN' and listening to TRAFFIC- 'When The Eagle Flies'; JEFFERSON STARSHIP- 'Blows Against The Empire'; SPIRIT- 'The 12 Dreams...'.

Watched 'UNTOLD: Operation Flagrant (Netflix).  The referee didn't fix games but he used inside information to tell bookies who was going to win. These tips produced millions of dollars in winnings and the team owners were running their own scam. Their business model was to favor high profile players and teams and the refs were encouraged to use the rules to punish or reward certain players. It was an interesting documentary and I couldn't care less about basketball.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale.
