 Mo 2/20/23

715am (B). 1010am (2-B). 120pm (2-B). 435pm (2-B). 705pm (2-B).

Up 530am: Mostly sunny with temps to mid 50's.

Watched 'SHE SAID' (Peacock-TV). A fantastic film that deals with the Harvey Weinstein case, but it's really about how the process of contemporary journalism works. It emphasizes the fact that news reporting must be the relentless pursuit of verifiable facts and individuals and institutions must be confronted regardless of their power in society. There are few excellent films that portray realistic depictions of the Fourth Estate (ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, SPOTLIGHT, SHATTERED GLASS) and 'SHE SAID' belong in that group; with Zoe Kazan, Carey Mulligan, and Patricia Clarkson. I really liked this film.

It feels like a 'Two Movie Morning' so I'm going to rewatch 'SLIDING DOORS' (Peacock-TV). I thought that it would be a 'rewatch', but I was completely unfamiliar with this film and it was really a 'first time' view. A story of two distinct timelines and in one, a young woman in fashionable London meets a new man who becomes the love of her life, and in the other, she learns that her boyfriend has been unfaithful. The film is packed with enough dissonance in either version of reality to succeed in making this romantic fantasy engaging and worth a look; with Gwyneth Paltrow, John Hannah, John Lynch, and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Wrote a short 'Chat' and very late for the workout

135pm: To Washington Park. Parkview,  Wash.Pk southside, Wiggins,  Outer Park,  Lincoln,  Leland,  Walnut, Wash.Pk, northside, Parkview,  Fairway,  and up to 940...ONE HOUR AND 50 MINUTES...DEREK & THE DOMINOS Live; finished BRIDGET PHETASY on J.R.E.

Reading 'STRANGE FITS OF PASSION'

440pm:  In the tub with 'STRANGE FITS OF PASSION' and listening to FREE- 'Tons of Sobs'; BONNIE & DELANEY- 'Accept No Substitute'; WEST BRUCE LAING- 'Why Dontcha'; The Essential REDBONE.

Began Matt Taibbi on J.R.E.

Began the Israeli series 'WHEN HEROES FLY' (Netflix). It begins with a group of Israeli soldiers under enemy fire from Hezbollah in Lebanon, and then shifts to the present about a girlfriend of one of the men who was killed in an accident, but might still be alive. This one is more than a bit melodramatic, but it's got my interest and it's critically acclaimed.    I shut it down a couple of minutes into episode #2 (116 minutes in episode #1).
