Up 5am: A mix of sun & clouds with temps to mid 80's. An 80% chance of rain tonight. The plan is to mow the lawn later this afternoon and maybe tackle the weed infested flower bed in the back.(Yes Mow, No Weed- decided to just let it go wild for the Summer, and hack it all down in the Fall) 

Watched 'THE SON' (Netflix). A powerful drama about a teenage boy who suffers from severe depression and how his parents honestly struggle to understand and react to his issues. Dad has remarried and is deeply involved in work and his mother hasn't moved on from the divorce. Dad's new wife is sympathetic, but no one seems to have a clear idea of what to do. The kid finally does the deed and I was happy to see he wasn't 'healed' by a loving family or a miraculous psychiatric intervention; with Vanessa Kirby, Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern,  Zen McGrath, and Anthony Hopkins for one scene. "45" Metascore.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
