 We 9/6/23

725am (2-B). 845am (1-SB). 1235am (2-B). 555pm (2-B). 820pm (2-B).

***Put out the 'blue barrel' on Thursday because of the holiday.

Up 615am: Partly sunny  & breezy with temps to upper 70's- feels nice!

Watched 'MADAME CLAUDE' (Netflix). A fictionalized profile of the female genius who founded and managed the most important Parisian brothel of the late 1960's. She had The Mob and French Security Forces under her control but things get out of hand when she recruits the daughter of a powerful member of the The French Parliament. One of the most realistic and authentic films about Prostitution that I've ever seen. I really liked this one; with Karole Rocher as Madame Claude.

From 'cineuropa.org':

"Navigating between a film noir, a psychological study of the protagonist, a fictional story (enhanced by the voiceover coming courtesy of the main character) and a mirror reflecting standards of behaviour which would be swept away by the 1970s, Madame Claude roams around within the bowels of a highly documented myth, maintaining a controlled distance, exploring hot-cold atmospheres and, ultimately, echoing the complex personality of this woman whose notoriety has gone down in history. It’s a foggy grey zone which lends the film its many strengths (the sharp portrayal of the main character, the brilliant cast and the wide range of scenes, notably of an ensemble nature), but also one or two flaws (subplots which at times feel forced and the inevitable skimming-over of the film’s many events), although the sexy, “feminist”, thriller feel of the movie fits perfectly with the Netflix path."

Finished 'THE EXCHANGE' (Netflix). This might be the ugliest piece of cinema that I've ever seen. The sets, characters, automobiles, locations and the costumes (especially the dowdy & tacky costumes!) have to be the worst ever assembled. It's like the filmmakers hated or misunderstood everything about Kuwait culture and society. Netflix seems to be pushing Female Empowerment but the two women in this film are the most undeserving trailblazers ever.

1145pm: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to workout at Esporta and a car wash on the way home.

Weights:  3 sets/ 15 reps; Dumbbells

1245pm: To Esporta...45" Precor.  45"Treadmill.  30"Cross.  30"Bike.  30" Precor;  began 'THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE' (Netflix); 'PROTECT OUR PARKS' on J.R.E.

Car wash at Green

***In the mail was a rebate check from the Springfield Clinic for $80. No reason as to why or when, but the additional cash will soon be traded for weed.

Reading 'THE WHOLE TRUTH'

6pm: In the tub with 'THE WHOLE TRUTH' and listening to MISSION OF BURMA Playlist; LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH Playlist; STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Playlist.

Began YANNIS PAPAS on THE VIRZI EFFECT

More of 'THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE' (Netflix), I shut it down 13 minutes into episode #5. So much information on each character and five chapters left in the series.
