 We 2/21/24

655am (2-B). 730am (1-SB). 105pm (2-B). 540pm (2-B). 810pm (2-B).

Up 530am: Partly cloudy with temps to mid 60's.

Watched 'BLACK COAL, THIN ICE' (Amazon Prime). Set on the fringes of contemporary urban China.

PREMISE: Bodies keep turning up at various coal stations around the state. A man accidentally kills someone in a robbery. He cuts up the body and drops pieces of it in different cars in a coal train. His wife is aware of his plan. Actually, a woman worked in a dry cleaning shop and ruined a man's leather jacket and couldn't afford to compensate the man. He made her pay in sexual favors. Very much a 'noir' tale with strange locations- an ice skating rink, ballroom dance studio, 'The Daylight Fireworks Club'. A wild shooting incident as three cops subdue two punks and nearly everyone is killed or wounded. I had seen this before but had forgotten much of it, but this was not an easy film. Filmed during the winter in northern China. I liked it. "70" Metascore.

Began 'COLD CASE HAMMARSKJOLD' (Amazon Prime). A whacky exploration of a conspiracy theory involving the plane crash that killed the Secretary General of the United Nations in September of 1961. There doesn't seem to be consensus as to whether the crash was an accident or if the plane was shot down or there might have been a bomb onboard. There was a civil war going on in the state of Katanga and the rebels were hired by an international mining concern that was trying to gain complete control of local resources. I shut it down with about 39 minutes remaining.

12pm: PC is 'Off' and will walk outside today as temps are already at 60 degrees.

Weights: 3 sets/ 15 reps

120pm: To Washington Park...Parkview, Wash.Pk southside, over to northside,  MacArthur,  southside,  Park,  Outer Park,  Wiggins,  Wash.Pk southside,  up the hill,  Parkview,  Fairway,  and up to 940...Almost TWO HOURS;  ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Live 90's; SAM MORRIL on J.R.E.

Reading JOHN O'HARA anthology

***1st time used new silicone [10ml total/ both sides]

430pm: TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; more of SAM MORRIL on J.R.E.

545pm In the tub with JOHN O'HARA anthology and listening to DICKEY BETTS- 'Live at The Lone Star'; GRATEFUL DEAD- 'Workingman's Dead: Angel's Share'/ 'Europe 1972 Paris Live'.

More of LEWIS BLACK on 'Bertcast'.
